This is not normally a snowy place. We get snow in the mountains which is great. It’s beautiful to look at, makes the skiers ever-so-happy, brings dollars to poor little New Mexico, but I don’t have to shovel or slide around on the roads. The last ten days have not been normal at all. We have storms standing in line to come to central New Mexico. Yesterday the only road out of my area that will get me to the freeway more-or-less directly was closed in the morning. I had to take a back road down to Belen to get to I-25. An extra 30 miles to get to work.
At this moment, the sun is shining and the sky is blue, but two miles north, it is snowing — and heading this way. So, I’m going to zip out and get my brother a package of “Beers of the World” from Cost Plus World Market, and then zoom up to the Octopus Car Wash and get gift cards for stocking stuffers. My goal is to not be in the office tomorrow or Monday and to come to Albuquerque only for Christmas Dinner with my kids on Sunday evening.
I hit Trader Joe’s at 8:00 AM and picked up Christmas dessert, a live wreath (I know it’s a little late), some chocolate squares for the stockings, and dinner for tonight and tomorrow night. I so love Trader Joe’s.
I’ll post a holiday card from the baddogs over the weekend, but in the meantime, try to stay warm and keep your cars on the roads.

It began raining at 1:00 this morning — just poured. When I rolled out of bed and looked outside, there was mud as far as I could see. I slid my way out to the road with the trash can, came back in and took a shower. When next I looked outside, it was snowing — big, elegant flakes coming down very fast.

I have beau coup to do at the office so dressed in cords and boots. I drove three miles west and hit icy roads. Recalling the torturous 2-hour trip a week or so ago, I turned around, called my answering service and bailed on being in the office today. Tomorrow’s forecast is one word ice. Hmmm. I might have two days available for vacuuming and mopping. That will give the dogs the opportunity to track mud onto clean floors.

Holmes and I made it all the way through his Beginning Novice Obedience class — only missed one week. He had a wonderful time and shows great potential as an Obedience competitor. Good boy Holmes! This was an unusually good group of dogs I thought with owners that spent time training them. There was a toy poodle in the class that didn’t come to graduation, but other than her, Holmes was the smallest dog in the class. Because he works with a big smile on his face, he made the rest of the class smile as well. Next up — Nola who begins a class on January 14th.

I’m a little late putting this up, but it is so nice. Betty Moore Smith who owns Tommy The Intrepid (Chase/Scout son) put together this video in honor of their first birthday which was December 13th. Enjoy.
