  1. Start 2016 With Puppies!

    October 23, 2015 by myeye

Our Copper (shared with Kevin and Tricia Dooley) has finally decided to come into season — YAY!  She will be bred to Cracker, a handsome black boy.  We expect baybeez the first week in January — if all goes according to plan.  There should be black tris, brindles and reds.  This is a stunningly healthy breeding.  Copper has the best hips we’ve ever bred.  She is tested clear of Degenerative Myelopathy, is EE (no clear red or pink), and no fluff.  Her CERF (now called CAER) is normal and her parents are tested clear for PRA.  Daddy-to-be is OFA Good, EE (no pink), PRA clear by line, DM clear.  He does carry fluff so some of the kids will carry for fluff.  Both parents have wonderful, bright temperaments.  Copper has her HT and her CD.  Cracker is a Group-winning Grand Champion.

    Here is the pedigree.

It has been a year since our last litter so we are excited about these upcoming babies.  Think good thoughts for Copper and the babies.  We’ll share more information as this plan progresses.

  2. Another Dog Show or Two

    May 12, 2015 by myeye

The four-day Albuquerque High Desert Cluster is done.  Cardigans had early ring times (8:00, 8:00, 10:30, 9:00) — I need a nap.  We scored yesterday when Judge Gloria Kerr gave our Salsa a 3-point major.  When Salsa’s win photo arrives, I will proudly post it.  Copper was Reserve today.  Chase won nothing at all.  I stewarded Obedience on Saturday and Sunday.  The Obedience trial here was a regional qualifier so our training club acted as stewards.  The trial was a huge success and I like to think our Club’s participation had much to do with it.  I need a nap.

At the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America National Specialty, Chase is well represented by his children.  Yesterday at the herding trials, Lowri was High in Trial, High Scoring Champion of Record, High Combined Stock, and completed two titles.  Stout was Reserve High in Trial and completed his Started Sheep title.  Today at the Obedience Trials, Andy finished his CD with a High In Trial Score.  He was also High Combined in Rally with two perfect runs.  We are so proud of the kids and of their owners/trainers!

  3. It’s Showtime

    May 8, 2015 by myeye

One of the two dog shows in the Albuquerque area is this weekend.  We gathered up enough dogs to make a major for the girls.  We have five Champions entered (including the Chaseman).  Both Copper and Salsa are entered in the classes.  The only unpleasant thing about the show this year is that we show at 8:00 AM tomorrow and Sunday.  So, I’ll leave the office early today to bathe dogs.  There will be no time tomorrow for touch-up grooming (much less a full groom).

Little Tuli is ten days too young to come play — darn it!  Old Inca has no interest, nor does Daisy.  We will have fun without them — and usually have excellent vendors!

    Wish us well!

  4. Puppy Glamour Shots

On the occasion of their 6-week birthday, the Baybeez and I headed into Albuquerque to visit Kevin Dooley at Kevin’s Photography Studio.  The result is more than 300 images — sharing a few here with you.  The puppies were wonderful: bold and inquisitive, happy to meet new people.  Kevin and Tricia’s red/white Cardi Copper was at the studio and the puppies were quite sure that a red/white Cardi must be Daisy-mom.  They tried for a snack or two with no results.

  5. Our Snow Princess – Copper

    January 13, 2015 by myeye

It is snowing in Albuquerque — rare and wonderful event.  Kevin Dooley caught this photo of our pretty red Copper standing in their back yard.  Copper is a Chase/Dory daughter.  She has her CD and HT — soon, we hope, we will get her into show shape and into the conformation ring.
