  1. Those Are Our Girls

    October 16, 2013 by myeye

The latest issue of Canine Chronicles is out.  For the second time, Chase has two daughters in the top 20 Cardigans.  A year ago, it was Nikki (GCh Wellshire Absolut Magic) bred by Eric and Paula Weller, and owned by Paula and Carolyn Tompkins.  Her dam is Wellshire Lady Luck ROMb.  And our Lowri.  This time, both girls are from the wonderful “Ocho” litter.  Their dam is that lovely red Group Winner, BOS – Westminster “Scout” (GCh Cardiridge Jean Louise Finch ROMb HT RN CA).  The “Ocho” was bred by Janet Suber.  By virtue of her wonderful Best of Breed win at the Northwest Cardigan Fancier’s Specialty on September 27th, “Ginger” (Ch Mockingbird-Wyncrest’s I Believe in Magic NAP NJP NFP CA) is #18.  Ginger is owned by Kathy Metcalfe.  “Lowri” (HIT GCh Mockingbird Elyan Magic Moment HSAd HSBd) is at #11.  Susan Long, Cheryl Kienast and I own Lowri — or, perhaps, she owns us.  Lowri’s first litter is due this weekend, so Ginger must carry the family banner for a while.

You go, girls!  I am so proud of you and your owners/handlers/supporters.

  3. Dog Show Prizes Make Nice Birthday Presents

    August 16, 2013 by myeye

In 2012, our Lowri earned her first Group Placing on my birthday in June.  That alone was a great present.  This year, the day before my birthday, Lowri earned her first Group I — THAT is a SUPER birthday present.  To add the cherry on the top, Susan and Cheryl sent me the prize for the Group I.  The Group Firsts were made by Paul Gaskins of Sappling Grove Pottery — and I think this is lovely.  If you come to my house and have Guacamole or Salsa and chips, you’ll be dipping from a very special bowl.  Thank you to my great co-owners and our very pretty Lowri.

  4. WOW! Santa Was Here!

    December 17, 2012 by myeye

Cheryl Kienast sent me a package which arrived on Saturday, but I made it to the Post Office too late to retrieve it.  I picked it up today.  There were lots of fun little things in it — edibles for me and for the baddogs, BUT this is the piece de resistance

Yes, at my house it is all about the Chase.  Forever more, Jessica Viera will be front and center in my living room, earning Chase his Grand Championship, and there are lots of photos of his children.  How I love the baby baddogs!

Here is the left side with more Chase and his kids Nola and Lowri and Baby Dinah

. . . and the right edge with more Chase and kids  Holmes, Lowri, and Nola

Here’s the left middle with the rare Tennessee Brindled Alligator and more of the kids

Is this not the coolest gift ever?  Cheryl, you rock.  Thank you so much.

  5. What Did You Do This Weekend?

    November 5, 2012 by myeye

The Chaseman was entered all three days at the Valencia Valley Kennel Club Agility Trials held at Eagle Park in Belen.  He finished his Novice Standard Preferred title (NAP).  I love this photo of him flying toward a jump.  Evelyn Vinogradov took this and many other shots.  Once she has posted from all three days, I know I’ll be adding more Chase shots to my collection.  He’s still a green dog and makes green dog mistakes, but he loves this game.  Our classes are winding down for this year so he and I are going to hit the fields.  I hope to certify him this winter to enter him in our TD test in January.

Meanwhile, the kids were busy in other parts of the country.  Smooch was in Yakima and earned a Novice Fast leg.  Lowri and Baby Dinah were showing in Knoxville.  Dinah earned two more points and Lowri was Best of Breed one day and Select to Sherri Hurst and Libby the other three days.

Since I was at the trials, the house did not get cleaned (again/still), but I made some small inroads.  Chase’s betrothed (Dory) earned a GCh Major — she’s at 13 GCh points with two majors.  Since Dory is now nekked, we expect she will come in season soon.  When she does, she’ll get on a plane to fly down from Chicago.

My work week has come back to me — on Friday we resolved the matter that was set for trial.  So I am able to get to work on the 2013 National Specialty chores and on the Bulletin (not to mention taking care of all my other clients).
