  1. Weekend Round-up September 15th

    September 17, 2012 by myeye

The Chase/Scout kids headed home to Chattanooga this weekend with splendid results.  At the Chattanooga Dog Show Lowri (GCH Mockingbird Elyan Magic Moment HSAd HSBd) was Best of Breed both days and was pulled in the Group on Saturday.  Litter brother Tommy (CH Mockingbird It’s The Magic in Me} was Select on Saturday and Best Opposite Sex on Sunday.  Mama Scout (GCH Jean Louise Finch HT RN CA ROMb) was Select both days.  On Saturday there was a puppy match where Baby Dinah (Chase/Keina daughter McCombs Black Dinah) won the Herding Group.  At the nearby Lure Coursing field, Ginger (CH Mockingbird-Wyncrest’s I believe In Magic) ran like the wind and earned all three legs of  her CA (Coursing Ability Title).  Sister Sally (CH Mockingbird Practical Magic) earned the first leg of her CA.  Go, Ocho!

At home Chase and I worked on weave poles.  Naughty Nola wanted to be in on the act.  Since I have guides on a set of 6 poles, it was a piece of cake for Nola to zoom through and arrive at my front asking for treats.  Now who could resist that red dog smiley face?  Time to sign her up for Agility Prep.  Chase is understanding the dumbbell and yesterday he carried it across the living room while heeling with me.  I’m thinking May for the try for his CDX.

This month the Smooch (Elyan The Evening Echo of C-Myste HT RN BN) will be trialing in Obedience and (I think) more Agility.  Chase has his Agility debut next weekend.  Lowri will be off to more shows the end of the month, and Baby Dinah  will make her grown-up show debut.

I am so very proud of the Gramdkids.

  2. September Begins With A Bang!

While Chase was at herding practice with Ellen, his kids were at herding tests/trials and dog shows.

    TODAY:

Smoochie and DeAnnNelson finished their HT.  Smooch HT is Nola HT’s litter sister.  What good girls!

In the southeast part of the country, Lowri was trialing.  Congratulations to co-owner/trainer/herding handler Susan Shields Long and to co-owner Cheryl Kienast.  Lowri placed in all three classes and Treasure placed in hers.

    Lowri:

Completed her HSAd (Started Ducks A Course)

Earned the second leg of her HSBd (Started Ducks B Course)

Earned the first leg of her HSAs (Started Sheep A Course)

In Lexington, lovely Ginger (Lowri’s littermate) was Select Bitch.

    GO, KIDS, GO!

Cheryl’s Treasure also finished her HSAs today.

  3. Quick Weekend Summary

    August 27, 2012 by myeye

    So I don’t get too far behind . . .

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club Bulletin was mailed out on Wednesday and began appearing in mail boxes on Thursday.  Giant sigh of relief — as always . . .

Lowri, with Susan and Cheryl, went to Atlanta for the dog shows on Saturday and Sunday.  Lowri was Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday and Best of Breed on Sunday.  She didn’t place in the regular group, but was 4th in the Owner/Handler Group.  Dinah was along for the ride and had a great time visiting vendors and meeting families that had come out to the shows.

Nola was in Santa Rosa where she did nothing to cheer about.  She’s flying home tonight (YAY!!!) needing one 3-point major to finish her Championship.  I’m sure it will come — we just have other things to do.  She’ll be starting basic obedience within the next few weeks, will continue herding with Ellen, and, now that it is cooling down, will go tracking with me and Chase.

In Vacaville, Chase/Phoebe son Watson earned his HT (Herding Tested) title this weekend.  I’m very proud of him and of his mom Alden for sticking in there while he caught on.  With Watson’s title, his dog mom Phoebe needs only one more title earned by one of her children to be awarded her Register of Merit Bronze.  Holmes is working on that.

Chase, Inca and I have been watching the weather channel and worrying about all of our friends and family near the Gulf Coast.  Unfortunately it does not appear that the Republican National Convention will be washed away.

  4. You Go, Girls!

    July 24, 2012 by myeye

Dog people keep track of all sorts of things.  There are magazines that will tell you which dogs were the top Cardigans in Novice Obedience.  There are also magazines that keep track of conformation wins.  We are celebrating Canine Chronicles’ report through June that in terms of other Cardigans defeated, Chase daughters Lowri (GCh Mockingbird Elyan Magic Moment PT) and Nikki (GCH Wellshire Absolut Magic) are numbers 8 and 10 in the United States.  Nikki is 27 months old and Lowri is only 19 months old.  How very cool is that?  Lowri’s mom is GCh Cardiridge Jean Louise Finch HT RN CA ROMb and Nikki’s mother is Wellshire Lady Luck ROMb.

Chase wants to know if that means he gets extra treats.  Probably . . .

  5. Just Ask

    July 9, 2012 by myeye

My birthday was in mid-June — actually I was forced to share Fathers Day this year.  Lowri and Susan and Cheryl were going to the Western Carolina Dog Fanciers Association Shows in Waynesboro NC.  I asked them (imagine whiney voice), “Do you think, for my birthday, you and Lowri could get a Group Placement?”

By golly, that afternoon, Susan called to tell me that Lowri had earned her first Group Placement — a Group IV.  The moral to the story is if you don’t ask, you will not receive.

Note how svelte Cheryl looks!  Thanks for my present!
