  1. Let’s hit the road

    April 30, 2008 by MyEye

Friday morning (really early) Kip and I, and Karen and her Bryce are headed for Tulsa (some 605 miles each way).  She’s competing Saturday and Sunday in canine freestyle (requires more coordination than I can muster).  Kip will be trying his nose at the Indian Nations Tracking Test on Sunday.  It seems as if, whenever I’m trying to leave town, my clients become creative and present me with problems to solve.  So I’ll have a late night tonight and a really busy tomorrow.  I’m sure this builds character.

We’ll take the laptop along and post a whoopee if we pass.  As soon as we return on Monday night, Kip must get brushed up on obedience.  Yep!  The last time was not enough fun, so he’s entered for three days in a row in Novice Obedience over Mothers Day weekend.  Two of those days, Chase is also entered in the 6-9 month puppy dog class.  Of course both classes are scheduled for the exact same time, and my assisting handler’s dogs are also entered in classes that begin in synch with Kip’s and Chase’s.  Murphy was asleep when all the great things were falling into place for the tracking test, but he’s definitely working overtime now!

So, we’re off to see the wizard — well, it is near Kansas.

  2. Happy 6-month Birthday to the Constitution Kids

    April 17, 2008 by MyEye

Chase and his eight brothers and sisters are six months old today.  As a group they are sweet, cuddly puppies.  They’re exhibiting keen intellects as well — easy to train despite their exuberance.  So, to Ace, Bogie, Clem, Eagle, Feather, Golda, Heather, and Jiggers, the puppy formerly known as Ikey says, “have a fun day.”

  3. We won a lottery

    April 15, 2008 by MyEye

You can be certain that if there are 49 door prizes and 50 guests, I’m the guest that won’t win a door prize.  However, in a stunning exception to the norm, Kip and I drew a slot in the May 4th Indian Nations Tracking Club test.  To make things even sweeter, a mutual friend connected me with a woman who is going to Tulsa for a canine freestyle competition that weekend.  So, we’ll share the ride and a hotel.  Saturday I’ll go cheer for her, too.  So think good thoughts for the Nose and his klutzy handler.

  4. This is what the judge will see

Chase wil be 6 months old in four days.  Today I was able to round up enough people to take a show photo (“Ikey, hold still”).  Bonnie stacked him, Stephanie took the photo, and I made him smile.  Isn’t he on his way to being a handsome man (even though he’s a bit posted up in front)?

  5. What’s Up?

    April 13, 2008 by MyEye

alert-4-13-08.jpgChase-puppy always wants to know what we’re doing next.  This morning was tracking time.  Burt was out laying a track for Kip and Chase was standing by to run his single-turn track on grass.  I love the way he checks in with me — what’s up, Mom?
