This is a sunset sky as seen from the Pino trail in the Sandia Mountains (New Mexico). When I was a child, my mother assured us that the gold on the clouds was the reflection from Merry (that’s Mrs. Santa) Christmas’ oven as she baked holiday cookies.

Nice story about a beautiful sky picture.
Nice catch….. Great job! Reminds me the saying,,,, We never know how high we are, till we are called to ris; and then, if we are true to plan, our statures touch the sky… Happy Skywatch! Hope you can visit my SWF entry too…

Yep, you sure get some impressive skies in New Mexico…
I’m trying to figure out where you are from, but I can’t find an “about” or “profile” here. I saw this and said, “THAT LOOKS JUST LIKE MY SKIES!” And it is! I live on the west side of the Sandia Mountains and am enchanted with the skies here. I’m always outside with my camera! Beautiful, beautiful shot!

An exquisite photo but at the same time very dramatic. Just lovely.
