Kip at the Bouviers National Specialty

October 17, 2008

Albuquerque is hosting the Bouviers des Flandres National Specialty Show.  The Bouviers Club opened herding, agility, obedience, and rally to other breeds (Bouviers having priority of course).  Lots of us took advantage of an indoor site for these events.

You may recall that Kip had earned one Rally Advanced B leg over Labor Day at the SDOC trial.  He earned a second leg today.  Today’s judge was a former obedience instructor in Albuquerque* — Kip was in her competitive class for a year.  He was SO glad to see her (groan!).  Even though he was off lead, he stayed with me, and just sparkled and wagged at her.  I was really shocked that we did not receive the Mr. Congenialty award — I’m sort of new to this Rally stuff and didn’t realize there are no cute points.  We did, however, receive a big green rosette.

* Janice and her husband live in Albuquerque, but he was offered the “position of a lifetime” on a two-year contract in Washington, DC.  So, they will be there until May, 2009 when Janice will return and we can get back to our competitive classes.  We really miss her here.

Well, there should be cute points, and we all know who would have come home with the big blue in that category. But YEA KIP! Ask for an extra chicken neck tonight.
