  2. I’ve Done My Time

    November 18, 2008 by MyEye

With the stroke of  “T’s” pen, my community service is done — a satisfactory discharge.  There was a neighborhood meeting at the Multigenerational Center tonight — the neighborhood association is so large that a quorum requires the presence of 200 members.  So, I scrubbed down all the tables, then did the three women’s bathrooms again and helped T stock the men’s as well.

The Center is so cool that I paid my $13 annual membership fee.  They offer pastel classes — can I fit it in on Monday evenings?  Hmmm.  They have beginning Yoga.  Maybe, in keeping with our “take it off before Nationals” effort that would be a better use of an hour.  The Center is only five minutes from my house.  They have a workout room and weight training (yep, I need to train my weight to do something useful), and basketball and volleyball.  Little kids were learning karate tonight.  This is one neat place.

So, my stick-up-the-back decision to do community service rather than pay the patron $74 turns out to have been a stroke of genius.  I’ll probably even have some non-dog/non-lawyer friends before long.

  3. Whew! It Was Life Threatening — But Not Fatal

Ralph fixed the notebook.  He says that I visited a site that tried to insert some malware.  My internet security spotted it and asked me what to do.  I told it to quarantine and to then delete.  Turns out the file the malware was infilitrating was my winlogin.exe.  So, when that file was quarantined, the computer wouldn’t boot up.  The malware came in at the site from which Garrett got his Autumn personality overview.  Egads and Gadzooks!  What a scare!  Fearing the worst, I had already begun to look at new notebook computers, while crossing shows, trials and tests off my calendar as I made note of the prices.

So, in celebration of dodging another internet bullet, I’m going to take Chase in for his CERF test on Friday and send in entries for a tracking match in El Paso on December 7th, tracking tests on January 11th and 25th, the Hobbs show on January 31st and February 1st — and then, of course, the CWCCA Nationals (for which I will be more svelte than I am today).

I get the notebook back today, so after I do my community service this evening, I’ll be blogging from home.
