It Is Time To Look Up Even As We Reach Down

January 20, 2009

“America. In the face of our common dangers, in this winter of our hardship, let us remember these timeless words. With hope and virtue, let us brave once more the icy currents, and endure what storms may come. Let it be said by our children’s children that when we were tested we refused to let this journey end, that we did not turn back nor did we falter; and with eyes fixed on the horizon and God’s grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations. ”  Inaugural Address by President Barack Obama, January 20, 2009

I am moved, I am proud, I am energized, I am tearful.  Together we are embarking on a new journey that I believe will bring us peace, prosperity, and pride.  God bless this Country, and God bless us everyone.

Amen! I still get goosebumps and tears just reading it again, thank you for posting!

There is hope in this world, and we will continue to pray for peace and good will towards everyone, and an end to the hard times that are finding nearly everyone right now.

  4. C-Myste says:

“As for our common defense, we reject as false the choice between our safety and our ideals. Our Founding Fathers, faced with perils we can scarcely imagine, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man, a charter expanded by the blood of generations. Those ideals still light the world, and we will not give them up for expedience’s sake.”

  5. Traci says:

It was an amazing morning, watching our new Presidents Inauguration and speech… I decided to take the chance that I would get in trouble for bailing on my 1st graders…. this is a day I would never get to relive ~ I’m so hopeful… not only for myself, but for our great country. Thank you ladies, for posting parts of his speech… it was truly amazing, and I look forward to going back and listening to it again and again (thank God for technology!) 🙂
