Spanish Broom

May 21, 2009

This clump of Spanish Broom would certainly be healthier if the Cardis hadn’t dismantled the drip system (heavy sigh).  Nonetheless it’s a wonderful flowering bush — heavy, heavy perfume, strongest in the evening, flooding the yard and the living room.  Spring is . . .

Ah, you were in the mood for spring flower pictures as well!

  2. Alden says:

I think we have a “broom” relation in CA. Although, ours is called Scottish Broom, and it’s a bane to ranchers and farmers. It’s very prolific. We let it grow wild around the house because of the way it smells….it’s heaven!

  3. Sandy says:

Exactly…….ours in WA state is called Scotch broom. It’s beautiful and dreaded by the allergy sufferers. It grows everywhere and the noxious weed people mow it and mow it and it keeps coming back.

  4. Alden says:

Ooops, the CA Broom IS Scotch Broom. My mistake.I’ll take it over star thistle anyday!
