Let’s start out by talking about calling a puppy “Cain”. Elaine says I just can’t call the baby after a murderer. She’s right. So, he’ll be “Cane” as in sugar cane because I know he’ll be a sweet boy. Adrienne helped me with the following photos. These are strong puppies. Half the shots I took are out of focus because the subject was trying to run away. Poor Adrienne — I wanted her to hold them still without her hands covering any part of the puppies’ bodies. She tried, but we would have had puppies overboard. So — doesn’t Adrienne have graceful fingers? No side shot of Cane this go-round. Maybe next time he’ll cooperate just a little bit.

Abel is going to be a gorgeous color. What does his show side look like?
Unfortunately Abel’s show side is a little plain. The white collar does not extend around to the show side. He does have white legs and it looks like his body color will be Chase’s mahogany/bronze. I hope he has Chase’s longer neck and his look-at-me carriage to compensate for the lack of frosting. If he can also fly, it will help!
Glad everyone is doing well. Love those brindle boys.
Beautiful! Thanks, Phoebe. Thanks, Chase. Thanks Adrienne. And best of all, THANKS PENNI!
They are beautiful! Or should I say handsome.
Maybe he’s named “Caine” after the heroic prince of Amber who took out Brand and saved the multiverse!
(Although heroic Caine from Amber was also a little bit sinister and weird.)
Oh I am so happy for you and that you have healthy puppies. Yeah for the whole crowd!
Oh beautiful puppies. Phoebe, Chase and Penni you all did wonderfully.
So, I thought I’d share with you a little story about another 2-puppy litter…
There was a litter of two Cardis born about five years ago–one male puppy and one female puppy…the boy puppy grew up and earned his championship at 12 months of age with three majors (including a four-pointer at the Rose City Classic when he was not even seven months old). The girl puppy wasn’t show quality, but she had an amazing personality and more drive than most Border Collies. By the time she was a year old she had already earned three rally titles and now, at five, she has seventeen performance titles behind her name–and #18 may come as soon as tomorrow 🙂 (gee, I wonder who I am talking about…)
Anyhow, my point is that quality can trump quantity and I bet your boys will be every bit as successful as any puppies from larger litters…in fact, in hindsite, Zoey’s breeder (yea, Zoey was the girl puppy mentioned above) actually realized having two puppies made some things easier–easier to give them plenty of socialization time, easier to clean-up after, etc.
I wish you all the best with your two new additions–can’t wait to hear how they turn out!
Kristine, you know I always want my dogs to “do” in addition to being handsome or beautiful. I hope these two guys inherited Chase’s athleticism and enthusiasm. Look out world!
Congratulations Phoebe, Penni & Chase! Very handsome boys. I can’t wait to see them grow!
Congrats to all. It is so reassuring when you can find a vet so nice and helpful. I don’t know what my family would do without ours. The boys look great but if Cane does have a bit of a devilish streak in him will his name revert back. All puppies are precious and sweet but Captain can definately cause problems at times.
Good job to all….maybe since “Cane” is about sugar you could call him that….sounds more like a loved dog’s name.
Tap,tap, tap. Kane would like to suggest “Kane” as a spelling, which is a Welsh (masculine) form of the word “Beautiful.” And it’s suited my Kane just fine. 🙂
Cane already has his person. When he’s old enough, he’ll be living with Alden Murray in California. He is a promise and a surprise. Months ago, I promised Alden that if Chase/Phoebe had a mismark, he/she would be Alden’s puppy. I didn’t really expect a mismark because Phoebe has never produced one, BUT there he was squawking that he wanted to be a California dude. Alden is thinking of the perfect name. When she tells me what it is, I’ll let everyone else know and begin calling the little guy by his own name.
Boy they’re big pups. Dixie wasn’t that big at 8 weeks old when we got her she was about the size of a guinea pig.
Whawhooo! I’m so glad to hear that Cane/Watson is coming to live in Northern Cal. with Alden! (Yes, I’m jealous, as I too have a soft spot for the fluffies & the mismarks!) Can’t wait to see him Alden! He’s going to be a nice compliment with Fig!
Hugs from all of us!
