  2. Why We Love Them

    October 18, 2009 by myeye

My friends Jim, Sara, and Jill with whom Kip lives have been dealing with Jim’s serious illness.  Today I received this note from Sara.

    Dear Penni,

As you know Jim had his heart valve operation on Aug. 25.  He coughed so hard that it broke open so they operated again.  This time the wound had to heal from the inside out so he had a large open wound we had to deal with.  Then he got a staph infection and they had to go in and debride.  The next day a plastic surgeon took muscle from his pecs and abs to put in the wound. That was 2 weeks ago Sat.  He has been asleep since then and in critical condition.  The docs say it is a slow process to get him well.  He has every tube you can imagine.  The kids, and mostly me, have had a hard time seeing him in such trouble.  I am writing to tell you that our dear Kipper has been such a relief to me.  He is a wonderful companion and bed baby.  I can’t begin to thank you enough.  I dearly love that dog!

    God Bless, Sara

I love this dog as well.  He has been a gift — first to me, and then from me to my friends.  He’s never let any of us down.
