All We Wanted Was a Look . . .

October 11, 2009

. . . but what we got was Best of Breed and a Herding Group IV.  Wendy told me to get lost, so I was sitting back where I could see, but not be seen, and not say a word.  I had tears in my eyes watching him float around the ring with his tail streaming behind him and the autumn sun glinting off his bronze coat.  He was so happy and really cashed in on the cute factor.  This is Chase’s second Group placement and I’m so very proud of him!  Wendy did a great job keeping him focused and up!  His second birthday is Saturday and the show photographer promised me the Group placing photo by email before then (he did that for me last year with a Best of Breed photo from the same show).  The Judge for Breed and the Group was Mrs. Andre B. Schoen from Colorado Springs.  The show was Valencia Valley Kennel Club (2).

    Happy dance!

We were at the Oregon Vortex when you called. Cell phones don’t work there (for real).

What was Sherri saying to Wendy in that top photo? Well, Sherri knows both of the dogs and what each offers.

    • myeye says:

Sherri told Wendy that Chase was a lovely dog. She commented to me later that we needed to work on grooming him. I kid you not: NOBODY grooms that dog like Sherri does!

      • Sarah says:

Nobody grooms any dog like Sherri does!

        • Sarah says:

OMG, I could reply!!!! i’ve been able to see the blog three straight days now, and then I just guessed what to put in the non-labeled boxes above, and it really let me reply. 🙂

Way to go Chase, you rock!
My friend Nancy, who hasn’t done a “thing” with her new Cardigan bitch that she started showing in February…went to Boise this weekend. It’s a wonder what a new setting will do and some grooming tips from the bitch’s breeder. WB on Friday and WB and BW on Saturday for BOTH of her majors! Sometime a few weeks from now we’ll be able to get her off Cloud 9!

It’s really funny how dog showing works. We want to get our dogs out and get them used to the ring. Once we get to the show, we want to win. However, it just doesn’t happen until the dog is ready and the right judges are out there — then you might have a knock-out grand weekend like Nancy had. It sure is hard to wait for that convergence. Is Nancy a blogger? If not, you need to get her on the bandwagon!

    • It wasn’t so much grooming, and scenery really, as a slow-maturing bitch blossoming. From the 1st time I saw Kate she’s matured a lot, and looks A LOT better. Cardis are one of those breeds who often go through some REALLY ugly phases, where experienced breeders just hide them at home, and wait to pull them back out until they blossom *G*

Maturity, maturity, maturity 🙂 Kate had it in her all along, but as many puppies, and animals do, went through her gangly teens 🙂

  25. Shelley says:

Huge congrats to the kid from the “other” grandma, and Daddy and his sister and 1/2 sister!

  26. Garrett says:

WAY TO GO CHASE MAN!!! WOHOO! A nice BOB win AND a group placement! Good job!!

  27. Lani says:

Well done, handsome boy!! He seems to have spotted mom in the second photo – what a smile!

  28. Le'o says:

Very big WOOT!!! WOW!!! and all the other cheers. Very big congratulations.

  29. Taija says:

Wow! Go Chase! He’s absolutely lovely. Congratulations!

  30. Karen Rossman says:

That dog can win and obviously loves doing it. He’s one of those stars that steps into the ring and “turns it on”. Congratulations to Chase and you for giving him all that love and confidence.

    • myeye says:

Chase loves shows — and he loves obedience — and he loves tracking — and he loves herding — and he loves agility. To do everything with him that he loves, I would probably need to be twins. I hope he passes that exuberance on to his children 🙂

  31. Sherilyn says:

Way to go Chaseman!! Huge CONGRATS to Team Chase! :))
