Our boyz are six weeks old today. Before we did shots and toenails, the official photographer (Adrienne) took a lot of photos. Here are a couple of the best cute shots and the only two reasonably okay stacked shots. Phoebe’s not in them due to lack of interest (on her part)
Stacking six week old puppies gives new meaning to “finger food”. They were easier to stack a few days ago — with or without food. Watson is absolutely opposed to this exercise, while Holmes knows he’s destined so, begrudgingly, gives us one decent set up out of ten or twelve. My admiration for Jeri and Heidi grows every time I try to get these boyz on the stacking blocks!
Hind foot is turned out, back is roached because my finger is under his tummy — but he’s a cute boy and does have a nice body!
This comes a little more naturally to Holmes. He’s still not square on his hind feet and is a little posted up in front, but it gives you an idea of this puppy’s scope and angles, and his wonderful croup and tail set.
I think I should move to a place with a huge yard and keep them both!
I don’t think Alden would like that last idea.
The pictures keep giving me “puppy fever”.
I thought about what Alden might do to me after I’d posted that. I’ll retract it, but I sure would like to find a way to keep little Holmes.
I wouldn’t mind, but Penni’s new place would have to have at least 4 bedrooms for me and my 4 children, and room for Fig and Duncan to cavort.
What about room for Alden to cavort?
Absolutely adorable!
Daddy’s little white faced boy….look at how similar the head and expressions are!
There’s always crate and rotate IF drama starts. I’ve lived with Cove wanting to kill Traum a few years now, with only a couple slip ups. Without a husband, and toddler in the mix, keeping drama dogs apart is even easier, AND mine are fine in public, just not at home, so I can take them anywhere together, without so much as a snirk.
Just saying that it COULD work out. Also is little Holmes allows Chase to always think he’s alpha, there’s not much chance for drama. If he always thinks Daddy walks on water, drama isn’t as likely.
Since I work away from the house, crating and rotation isn’t a real way to solve the dominance issues. Though I can usually take a dog to work, when I have a hearing (or even worse, a trial), I can’t leave a dog at the office, and I can’t get home to change them around. What I found with Chase and Kip is that Chase was picking on Kip primarily when I wasn’t home. Poor little Kip! I just won’t put a dog through that again. I’ll keep Holmes for a while, start him tracking, take him to conformation classes, and see what the Chase/Phoebe repeat brings us. I do love his body though and he has the same temperament his dad has — good for show, but not conducive to an effective buddy system.
I have a BIG back yard — like an acre’s worth. Can they come here? Alden of course wouldn’t mind, would she? :o)
And your little photographer does a great job. Congrats to two beautiful puppies.
It looks like you might not have a finger left! Great pictures!
What great pictures! I don’t know who’s cuter, Adrienne or the puppies.
Maybe you’ll get lucky and get a super beta Holmes like our Dash. We’ve never had an issue with them. Usually it’s Casper trying to hide from Dash cause he gets tired of his face being washed.
Even through Pearl’s last cycle the worst it got was Casper having to lay between Pearl and where ever Dash might be.
On rare occasions there’s a ‘smile’ of white teeth and Dash understand that he’s about to DIE!
The last thing I wanted was two intact boys but the girls are worse than the boys at our house!
Wow, little Holmes is turning into a looker!
Let’s see..bigger place, acreage and a bigger Motor Home, yep we did all of that and I would change one little thing. They are both adorable boys!
Not sure how long it will last, but Dex is a super-low boy, too. I’m hoping they get along forever. I do feel a little sorry for Dex. GoGo bosses him. June beats up on him. Ella humps him. He looks at me and sighs as if to say, “why me?”
