Toys are a problem around here. There’s no shortage (heaven knows!), but things happen to toys. The big dogs de-stuff them and carry the carcasses for months. The puppies dump them in the water bowl. I rescue them and they dry on the back of the sink.
These should be back in commission by tomorrow afternoon
This afternoon everyone got out in front with the puppies. While I was trying to put big dogs back and catch Holmes and Watson, Watson made a break back into the house and grabbed one of the carcasses. I wonder for how long he had been plotting that move.
I’ve put a crate in the puppy pen and when the boyz are all tuckered out (like they are now), they crawl in and take it for a test snooze. This is good practice for little show dogs. For now, the door is open and they can come and go, but their natural denning instinct will make this a safe haven for life.
Man… they’re just adorable! I amused myself today between writing orders for work watching them play with dad and romp around the yard.
Go Watson go! 😉
I guess Watson’s my new “toy boy.”
Dixie has only 2 toys from her puppy-hood left. An indestructible kong & a stuffie dog which we call her teddy. For some reason she loves teddy & has never even tried to de-stuff him & has had him for nearly a year & a half now, unlike her many other stuffies that have met horrible de-stuffing deaths. All her newer toys are now kong type rubber things. Her teddy will be on display tomorrow in my Flat Tony Friday post
I thought it was hilarious when I first put a crate (with no door) in the puppy pen and 6 of them promptly fell asleep inside it, piled on top of one another. It’s like they were just WAITING for their den, jeez! I also noticed that having it there kept Vegas from wandering around whimpering after everyone else fell asleep…he liked to sleep inside it, or crammed down between the x-pen and the crate. He really wanted to be someplace secure LOL.
