. . . have a great life baby-puppy. I should feel a sense of relief that one of the hooligans has gone off to his new home in California. Perhaps if there had been a “whole” litter, I’d be feeling it, but there were just the two dear little boys. I know he’ll be in a great home and that Alden and her family will welcome him, but . . . So, bye little guy. We’ll all miss you.
If Alden’s jacket wasn’t zipped, you’d see that she is wearing a blue kaleidoscope. She was fortified with a New Mexican burrito and a margarita last night. I’m hoping she comes back to visit soon. I’m hoping there are many Watson photos and videos. It was a great visit — too short, but so much fun.
p.s. Alden called once she had boarded the plane. The airport was not very busy when we arrived. At security, Watson was removed from the Sherpa bag and, she tells me, all the TSA screeners insisted on holding him. When Alden checked in at the Southwest gate, Watson was promptly nominated as Southwest Airlines official mascot. In the waiting area, he entertained children and adults. One very little boy wanted to know his name. Alden said, “Watson” and the little boy said, “Waffle?” So there is another name by which he may be called. He was whining a bit, but like any good child, I’m sure he went to sleep when the plane started moving.
The ticketing agent told us that Southwest is going to begin selling “sherpa” bags with “SOUTHWEST” on them. Watson qualifies as the best Luv Airlines puppy.
Penni,
Even if there had been ten, there would still be a tear in your eye. Such a big step for Watson, off on Life’s Big Adventure! Thanks for making that possible with all of the love, care and attention. You’ve made Alden very happy – the timing was right!
As you see by my comments, I’ve been following along on your weekend and thinking about you all. Watson will have a welcome home party next Friday beyond his wildest dreams. I think that the other California Cardi Folk are almost as excited to see Watson as Alden was!
Watson has a wonderful life ahead. He comes from two awesome canine parents, and has had a perfect start, thanks to you! We will all be thinking of you next Friday!
Warmly,
Kathy
Aw, it’s always so happy-sad.
I’d say that your house is going to be quieter: but you still have Phoebe (!)
“Sorry, ma’am, TSA regulations require that we cuddle and play with your puppy for at least ten minutes. It’s for national security.”
Despite knowing what a great home he’s getting, I think I would have been crying when he left. There’s no way you weren’t so in love with that cute little guy! I look forward to watching him grow on Alden’s blog.
For sure, a bittersweet time for Penni. I wish all the best for Alden and Watson-may they have a long, happy and healthy life together.
Alden’s face brings to mind that song that goes “Jose Cuervo, you are a friend of mine…”
A bit shell shocked, I think you guys had a lot of fun this weekend!
Good for you for raising such a sweet boy….lucky Alden, luckier Watson.
