About That Flood

December 9, 2009

Oh, sigh!  The mold remediation expert finally made it to the house this morning.  He found enough mold to require remediation.  So, the moldy guys must take everything out of the kitchen, laundry room, and half bath.  The refrigerator and microwave get moved to the dining room, all the cabinet contents get boxed up and stored in the garage.  The lower cabinets in the kitchen and half bath must be removed.  Even the toilet will be taken out.  We will be out of commission for ten days or so.  When they are done, it will still look just like the old kitchen.  For this much grief, you’d think I would get a Better Homes and Gardens exemplar.  I don’t know yet when they want to start the mess.  I am trying to be positive — I’ll sort through and get rid of stuff.  Perhaps I’ll list some neat stuff on eBay.  The reality is that I don’t know if four dogs and I can live with no downstairs water or plumbing for a week and a half.  I’ll talk with my adjuster about boarding the dogs — or all of them but the puppy — or a couple of them, and putting me in an extended stay.  I need to make a list — when all is crazy — make a list.

Oh no, what a mess. I wouldn’t think that in such a dry climate mold would have moved in so fast! Amazing. I hope they can get it taken care of sooner than later.
