The New Show Lead

January 23, 2010

I received these photos from Amanda this morning.  The “tube” beads I sent her simply were not large enough to slip onto the  kangaroo braid.  Of course, she had some very acceptable alternatives.  I cannot wait to pluck this from my mailbox and clip it onto a show collar 🙂

New show leadThis lead is laid on a standard sized paper plate — to give an idea of scale.

Close up turquoise-silver beadingThe turquoise is natural brown matrix turquoise, with silver beading on kangaroo braid — three strands of black with a single strand of whiskey worked in.  Definitely designed for a Southwestern Cardi.

That will look very sharp with your brindle boys!

I’ve been curious about kangaroo braided leads, but the price usually scares me away… where did you get this one done? Was it completely customized?? It’s very nice – I like it a lot! 🙂

I linked to the lead maker. Click on Amanda in the post. I have turquoise rondelles — though the holes had to be enlarged. The hole MUST be larger than 4mm. The new Pandora beads have 5mm holes, so work well. Amanda has a great selection of unique beads as well. The cost for a 4-strand (1/8″ Diameter lead) is $.75 per inch, plus the beading cost. Pick the colors of the leather — I used 3 black strands and 1 whiskey strand. Pick the length, color of snap, etc. So, yes, it’s custom to the core.
