This afternoon I went to the vet hospital to visit our Kipper. He’s able to stand, bearing his weight for 30 seconds at a time. He is using his rear legs to push himself forward to reach food and water. He’s eating well (not his raw food unfortunately). He is no longer catheterized as they work at getting him to urinate on his own.
When I came in and knelt next to his cage, he looked puzzled, but when I spoke to him, his ears came up and he began trembling. I had my cry before Jill and Sarah arrived. I’ve not seen Kip since I gave him to my friends last summer. I tried to go to their house, but I couldn’t do it. I knew I would just bawl like a baby when I saw him, But at the hospital, he needs visits from people who love him — so I went, had my cry, and spent time rubbing his ears and talking to him.
As soon as they remove his stitches, the rehabbers will begin his water therapy. The hospital offers hydro-therapy. When he goes home, he will have visits from the mobile acupuncture vet and will return to the hospital for hydrotherapy — unless his people decide to do hydrotherapy in the pool in their house. Nothing like lots of Cardi hair in the pool filter 🙂
Our boy is doing so well. He’s a tough little guy who’s decided to pull through for all the people who love him.
