Oh my, we had a wretched day! Holmes won his class and I’m really happy with the way he is showing. Leidy was third in open. Neither Chase nor Powell was Best of Breed AND neither of them was awarded a Grand Champion Select. I’ll just say that I have added another name to my “never enter under this judge” list. Obedience — I have no idea what happened. Perhaps on the Recall I was not smiling at my cute boy and he thought he was in trouble, or perhaps he was again thinking with the end that has no ears. Regardless, on the recall he came barreling in and six feet from me he sat. It was straight and he was looking at me, but it was too far away. The Judge Lynn Eggers, who is one of my favorites, hustled over to see if there was any way (short of launching myself into the air) that I could touch my dog. Naw! Not possible. We came back in for the long sit and down which Chase nailed.
So — not the best show day ever. I did buy a copy of Control Unleashed from a bookseller vendor, was proud of the way my dogs showed, had clients (non-dog) come to cheer us on. They think my dogs are perfect (they know them as The Office Dogs) so were sure the judge was an idiot or blind — or both.
Tomorrow back to conformation first and then another try for Chase’s CD. I think having obedience after conformation will be a huge relief — grooming over, no rushing to get from one building to another . . . I’ll remember to smile at my boy and maybe he will front within reach. Now I’ll add a post with Magic/Chase puppies — that will make us all smile.
Our Cardis know how to keep us humble, it doesn’t seem to matter what the venue it is….Good Luck on your next CD try!
Congrats on 2 legs, Penni & Chase! Glad to hear that Holmes is doing well, too. Go baddogs, go!
I have that book too…it’s a good one!
