Appalachian Journey (without Yo-Yo Ma)

July 3, 2010

Tennessee — at the southern end of the Appalachian Trail . . .  There are fields of wild flowers and misty hills.  Chase has the wonderful opportunity to travel to Tennessee where he will be in residence with Cheryl K at Bluefox Cardigans.  He will spend many of his days learning to organize the sheep with Susan S who is one of the premier Cardigan herding trainers in the country.  While Chase is on sabbatical, he will dally with southern belles, attend a few dog shows . . .

Will I miss my funny boy?  You bet your boots!  . . . but this is his chance to herd — and he loves the sheep.  We are aiming for a September trip, hoping to find him a ride from either the Amarillo or the Lubbock shows.  By then Ms. Leidy will have been bred, Holmes will be well into his Beginning Novice class, Chase should have completed at least his RA, and the weather will have cooled enough that both the trip and herding should be comfortable.

I will see Chase at the Houston CWCCA National Specialty where he will be entered in Herding and Best of Breed.

I must find him a “Tennessee” sticker for his ruck-sack.

We’ll do our best to show him some southern hospitality. 🙂

Chase will return to you with a southern drawl and a hankering for grits. I Look forward to seeing him in the ring. Shall we look for you at the country music cluster in March?

Oh, I am sure the sheep will make up for any homesickness. How cool.

  4. What an awesome opportunity! How cool!

I’m hoping to make it to the Houston national- unless something big comes up and ruins my budget. Now that I have a puppy to show, I have a really good reason to attend too! heehee
