I spent the day painting (or trying to paint) at the Los Lunas house. It seems the floor layers took my blue painter tape, screw drivers and hammer — I’ll assume it was not theft, just an error when picking up tools. So when Holmes. Leidy and I arrived, we had no tools. I have a little emergency thing on my key chain. It has four screwdriver blades, but you really can’t get any torque on it. So that’s what I used to remove a million socket and switch covers. Because of the paint colors the prior owner used, everything needs a coat of Kilz to block the dark pigment before I can put on the real color paint. So that was the day — hanging from a ladder first cutting in the trim and then rolling the walls. Every few minutes I yelled “Leidy, stop barking.” She knows there’s a big fence and the four dogs next door can’t get to her so she charges the fence barking her fool head off. Holmes followed her the first 50 times, but as the temperature rose to above 90 degrees, he told her she was on her own. We got the most important walls done — where the computer units will be — they are big and heavy and I never want to move them again. Tomorrow I’ll roll on the real color.
I couldn’t be too angry with the floor installer when I walked in and saw this — still dusty, still need to add base boards, but I love it. Tomorrow my teenaged boys will run the shop vac and paint a 6″ trim line in all the rooms so we can install the baseboards and paint the walls later. We’re going to move all the patio furniture to the new place, and my high school girl who helps at the office will be at the townhouse packing all the “stuff” that is fragile.
We’re getting closer to moving day . . .
