Breakfast

November 6, 2010

Leidy isn’t interested in keeping the puppies clean (how annoying is that?), so it’s time to start them toward weaning and a potty room.  This was their first meal — ground raw turkey and goat’s milk — yum.  It took them all of 5 seconds to figure out that Mystery Lady had brought the crystal dish to them and it was full of something really good.

I was laughing at how they really “got into” their food…then realized my 8-year old son pretty much does the same thing! Glad they enjoyed their first meal!

It seems that they can start eating real food sooner now that we’re using ground turkey and goat milk rather than kibble. I haven’t had any problem with puppies not diving right into it (sometimes literally).

You’ll be able to use cedar soon. I’ve usually switched at about 4 weeks, but last litter I think I did at 3. Hannah was keeping them clean, but 9 puppies just made a lot of mess.

Of course their first meal is from a crystal dish! Setting the bar pretty high aren’t you Penni? Next thing they’ll all want their own credit cards and the keys to the car! 🙂

Oh! That was the same dish that Watson and Holmes shared. It brings back the memories of all the nights I’d watch the puppycam, and counting the days until I could finally meet them.
