This morning when I went into the puppy room, for the very first time, the babies came to the side of the pen where I was. Their tails were wagging — and they could see me. Even Victor decided to begin opening his eyes — the other three pair are wide open and taking in all the wonders that surround them The biggest wonder is their mom. Poor Leidy cannot simply step out of sight to avoid them. Unless she uses her dog door and goes out into her private yard, she is theirs. Today is toenail day so that feeding isn’t too painful. This is the best part: she still feeds and cleans them, but I get to play with them — a couple more weeks, it will be all me.
