Stress Time

March 30, 2011

Going to the National Specialty is always so much fun, but getting ready to go is the pits.  This week I am stuck in pre-trial witness interviews every day.  Yesterday morning we had a Motions Hearing and I was able to get one more Count in the Murder indictment dismissed.  On May 9th that 1st degree murder trial begins.  There is so much yet to do at the house so the house sitter is able to find the couch and bed.  I must make up one more batch of buddy burgers.  Last night the Board of our obedience club heard a formal complaint against a member — I had the misfortune of being a witness.   So yesterday I left the house at 5:00 AM and returned home at 10:00 PM.  I ordered some linen pants to take to Houston, but the company from which I ordered them sent them by UPS to my post office box — THAT doesn’t work.

This weekend will be non-stop catching up on everything because next week I have an arbitration and must file several motions in the Federal drug case — trial for that one begins on June 6th.

Once I am on the plane early Friday morning (the 8th) all will be out of my control.  Whatever is undone will just stay that way until I return.  I’m hoping none of my clients decides to hold a crisis during Nationals Week, that none of the judges decide we must have a hearing on some issue or other, that the house sitter has no issues that require veterinary intervention, that I remember to bring underwear and deodorant.

All that said, I AM SO READY TO GO!

They have underwear and deoderant in TX. Probably.

Wish there were a way to help, that is a lot on your plate. Hope you can get some rest along the way.

  3. Jean from NM says:

But you look so good on TV. And your interview on the local news channels was so polished and professional. Oh, if only they knew that the classy lady attorney was worried about underwear and deodorant. 🙂

It’s nice to hear someone – who is so together all of the time – have a teensy bit of doubt they can get it all done. I have complete faith in you that yes, it will all get done, the dogs will be fine, and they do have WalMart in Houston so you can pretty much buy anything you need there. 🙂

  5. C-Myste says:

What? We’re supposed to get ready first? Not start packing Thursday night?

  6. Put the underwear, deodorant, cameras, and chargers in the suitcase right now.

    🙂

Rescue Remedy is a great natural destressor. Of course there is always alcohol in moderation Hug the dogs. Think of me panicking at the herding trials…

  8. Cheryl says:

Okay, that cracks me up because I had to go to Wal-Mart at the herding trial last weekend because I FORGOT to pack underwear! And that was just a weekend trip! I can only imagine what I’m going to forget to pack for Nationals! I advise deep breathing–and a little alcohol!

The informal poll, based on the comments, directs me to use alcohol. I may start a medicinal regimen tonight when I get home from work. I so appreciate all the good suggestions.

I have begun putting “must go items” on the bed in one of the spare bedrooms — it’s a start.

  10. Taryn says:

With all that legal stuff going on, you NEED a vacation! Try to enjoy your week without too much worrying!

  11. DeAnn says:

I always ‘pre-pack” in the spare bedroom before I go anywhere. That way I can get crazy with “what I need” but don’t actually put it all in a suitcase. With the cost of extra bags or overweight bags, you have to really think about what you need vs. what you “might” need. Good luck! I know you’ll have a blast at the Nationals. Oh, and I’ve also found that alcohol always makes me pack MORE! No control. LOL The more laid back i get the more stuff goes in the suitcase. 🙂
