  1. It’s A Wrap

    April 16, 2011 by myeye

The 2011 Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America National Specialty ended this evening with our annual dinner.  Since we are in Houston, it was barbeque, beans and potato salad.  The best of of breed judging ended at about noon, we took photos, then Susan, Cheryl and the dogs were in the van on the way back to Tennessee.  It’s getting more and more difficult to say goodbye to my Chaseman.  I know they love him dearly, I know he is crazy about herding, but he is such great company and I have a hole in my heart when he is away.

Today we made the cut in Best of Breed, but did not make it to the more exalted awards.  Brother Pilot received an Award of Merit with the skillful handling of Dixie Rae.  I certainly have no complaints at all about this National.  Chase earned his HSAs, was Best Brindle in the Megan, won the Herding Titled Class, and made the cut in Best of Breed, his daughter Nikki was Winners Bitch, his daughter Ali was third in the 12 to 15 month bitch class (and they are only a couple of days over a year old).  Little Lowri charmed the pants off everyone who got near her.  Chase has several lovely girlfriends lined up for the next few months (which will make him exceedingly happy).  Yep, we’ve had a good National.

I fly home early in the morning to dive into trial preparation, but this has been a wonderful interlude.
