Bright and early we were at the herding site which is a lovely 80 Acre Farm near Hempsted TX. Ducks were run first. These ducks had never been trialed before and Chase was not at his best. He had one duck that did not want to be part of his act and she eventually cost him the run. I expect tomorrow he will have a better run. He’s had a chance to settle in a bit — and he’s a tired boy tonight sprawled out on my bed wondering if I will ever turn off the light.
And the video of the run
The duck run seemed to take forever!
For a raw fed dog he shows amazing patience!
How nice to see chase working those ducks. Hadn’t ever seen footage of a cardi actually herding them before. Would LOVE a still of Chase and Ducks (*wink*;*wink*).
Good luck with the rest of the events at the Nationals Penni!!
Good man, Chase! I bet you’ll get those ducks in a row today.
Actually, I thought his run looked better than reported. He obviously was distracted by the crowd, new site (perhaps), or something, but really, when he brought the lone (BAD) duck back to the flock–that was amazing. Usually you can’t get a single duck to move and have to bring the rest back to it–so, really, I thought there was some definite good work done–obviously not QUITE enough good work, but still! On ducks that hadn’t been trialed on before? Really? Pretty decent. Besides, he was “saving himself” for the sheep . Good luck on Sunday’s runs!
Nick just sat in my lap and watched the video…he wants to eat the ducks! He thought Dad did a great job!
