Smooch’s first show was happy. She won her 6-9 puppy class (sole entry), but didn’t win in winners. However, she won in the respect that this was her (and DeAnn’s) very first show — and they had fun. Smooch made a zillion friends and will look forward to dog shows because they mean people, treats, and fun. That’s the perfect way to start a baby out.
Holmes and I went to handling class last night and he had his usual good time. I must remember that he wants to help me put him on the table — “fat lip time”.
Today we were going to go to an outdoor match in Bernalillo, but since it is only 40 degrees out and the wind is sustained at 35 mph, cooler heads prevailed. Instead, Adrienne and I are going to breakfast and then we will figure out what’s next. The dogs desperately needed the match experience, but not THIS match experience. Winds this high will blow little Nola off the table. I’d hate to drive nearly 100 miles to find the event had been canceled.
First-cousin Lucy won, so it was probably a matter of maturity. Mandy said it was a pick-the-open-class kind of judge. But she reports that Smooch looks very nice and that DeAnn should have an easy time finishing her 🙂
That makes my heart happy because I love our little Smoochie and always thought she was a pretty girl. I hope Mandy relays this to DeAnn — as a newbie in conformation, she can always use some reinforcement.
Yay Smooch! Great job!
