It is stunningly beautiful outside. The Albuquerque Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (with 650 hot air balloons participating) begins tomorrow morning with a 7:00 AM mass ascension. Today seems to be a “warm-up” for the pilots. As I drove north into Albuquerque, balloons filled the skies, and along I-25 are signs “NO SPECTATOR PARKING”. All you want to do is look up. It would be a lot safer if people were permitted to pull over and look. I pass a Hampton Inn as I wind into the area in which my office is located. The guests were all out in the parking lot with cameras — oohing and aahing. I love this event. Since my daughter-in-law’s ad agency does the print media for the Fiesta, we have available a “God Pass” which gets us right on to the Balloon Fiesta Park field. I am so grateful for the development of digital cameras — my film and film developing bill was always in the hundreds of dollars after the ten days of balloons. In other news, today the CWCCA Bulletin will go to the mail house. If the bindery is done with it early enough in the day, it will be mailed today. I will get my advance copy sometime this afternoon. Then tonight is the first airing of the two-hour Dateline-NBC show “The Secret”. It is the story of a case on which I’ve spent the last 18 months. I hope it is a fair portrayal of everything that happened. Billy is almost finished installing my new metal roof. Two of the three skylights have been installed and the third skylight and surrounding roofing should be done today — whoo hoo! Then Billy is going to build me a long, wide front porch that will hold a bench and a big blue pot. Next year I’ll plant a tropical hibiscus in the pot — wheel it into the house for the winter and then back out the following summer.
Tomorrow I am invited to the graduation of a young woman that I represented five years ago in a very horrible case. She spent some time in prison, was released, completed her parole, completed her high school work and has been accepted to a Vet Tech program. I am so stinkin’ proud of her. There truly are rewards for what I do for my real day job (as opposed to the Bulletin which is my non-paying day job).

Ahhh, I’m so envious! I remember how much I loved going to shows in Albuquerque because there were almost always balloons up in the air around there! It must be spectacular during the festival!!! Ditto to what Cheryl said about the shows. I’m not a lawyer but have been a County worker for18 years. Every time a former customer tells me they are doing well, no longer on aid or how I helped/encouraged them. Well, there are no words to describe how it makes me feel.
