The New Mexico State Fair

September 14, 2011

I awoke this morning to the sound of rain — steady, medium load rain.  It rained just a few days ago so I was filled with wonder.  As the fog (in my brain) cleared, I remembered that the New Mexico State Fair had opened on Friday, my granddaughter’s Girl Scout Troop had made a float and been part of the State Fair Parade on Saturday.  The State Fair is closed on Mondays.  So it is all clear now.  It did not rain yesterday because the Fair was closed, but is rained this morning because the Fair is open.  It always rains on the Fair.  When you live in the desert these little pieces of rain information are memorable.  Perhaps I can escape from my office one afternoon to take photos of the amusement rides and the exhibits.  I’ll pick an afternoon when it’s not raining.

  2. Poor beleaguered Michigan doesn’t have a state fair any more.

    🙁

So many excellent things to take pics of.

Driving competitions for horses. Veggies (especially the “warted gourd” group — my fave 🙂 ). Pickles, cakes, flower arrangements. Pigs. Cows. Goats. Chickens.

Have fun! I look forward to seeing your pics.

Since there has been a bit of rain lately, how is your wildflower meadow coming along?
