Saturday and Sunday results at the dog show: Saturday Nola was again 2nd in her class and today she was 3rd. So for the whole 8 days, she earned a 3-point major and a Reserve. She started her first season Friday so she will be the office dog for a couple of weeks. Holmes fared somewhat better. Yesterday he was Select and today he was again Best of Breed. He sits at 23 or 24 Grand Champion points. I may have to depend on AKC to tell me. He has five Grand Champion majors and his three defeats of other Specials. So, we just have to pick up the last point or two. He looked nice in Group today, but was too hot to sparkle. It was 83 degrees with plenty of sun. I remember why I like indoor shows. I am well done!
SDOC held its Variable Surface Tracking Test today. No one passed, but the weather was lovely (first track was run at 8:00 this morning) and the food was good. The Sandia Dog Obedience Club has a bunch of tireless workers who showed up at 5:00 this morning to lay the first track.
Word from Boise is that Chase/Magic daughter Nikki was Best of Opposite Sex yesterday and today so is Chase’s first Grand Champion child.
Speaking of Chase, Susan reported that today in training he did a very nice job on his first Advanced course. The last weekend of October he will try for his third Intermediate leg. Susan will decide whether to keep him in Intermediate the next day or move him up. That’s an on-the-spot decision depending on how he’s working and how the sheep are behaving. Good boy, Chase.
Little Treasure is VERY pregnant — due on October 27th. I’m looking forward to seeing the Chatre. That close to Halloween, they may be little devils.
