  1. Snow, Snow, Snow

    December 22, 2011 by myeye

This is not normally a snowy place.  We get snow in the mountains which is great.  It’s beautiful to look at, makes the skiers ever-so-happy, brings dollars to poor little New Mexico, but I don’t have to shovel or slide around on the roads.  The last ten days have not been normal at all.  We have storms standing in line to come to central New Mexico.  Yesterday the only road out of my area that will get me to the freeway more-or-less directly was closed in the morning.  I had to take a back road down to Belen to get to I-25.  An extra 30 miles to get to work.

At this moment, the sun is shining and the sky is blue, but two miles north, it is snowing — and heading this way.  So, I’m going to  zip out and get my brother a package of “Beers of the World” from Cost Plus World Market, and then zoom up to the Octopus Car Wash and get gift cards for stocking stuffers.  My goal is to not be in the office tomorrow or Monday and to come to Albuquerque only for Christmas Dinner with my kids on Sunday evening.

I hit Trader Joe’s at 8:00 AM and picked up Christmas dessert, a live wreath (I know it’s a little late), some chocolate squares for the stockings, and dinner for tonight and tomorrow night.  I so love Trader Joe’s.

I’ll post a holiday card from the baddogs over the weekend, but in the meantime, try to stay warm and keep your cars on the roads.
