Holmes flies today. In a few hours he will be off to Chicago to meet Anne and Josh and Oliver and Zoey, and new Cardigan sister Chloe. We’ve been watching the weather because American won’t take him if the high is below 20 degrees. We are good — the temperature will get up to 28 today. (Brrrr!)
Holmes is wearing his Thundershirt so he is mighty mellow. I’m focusing on what a great life he will have with his very own children and an obedience career. He won’t mind occasionally playing in the Best of Breed ring as Anne gets her sea legs after several years away from conformation.
Godspeed funny freckled dog. I will miss you terribly.
NOOOOO! Today’s high at O’Hare at 4:00 will be only 19 degrees. It looks like Holmes will stay here until Tuesday when Chicago is supposed to be a balmy 31 degrees! We went to the airport hoping the temperature at O’Hare was rising. Not so. It was actually dropping so they sent us away. On the trip home, I stopped at Tractor Supply Company and enjoyed a little retail therapy. They have tough dog toys. Holmes is carrying around a brightly colored soft fish. He can’t figure out how to de-stuff it — yet. We have a new reservation for Monday — same flight, but the temperature should be in the 30’s. Holmes is cleared down to 20 degrees. American Airlines has a bright line low of 20 degrees (doesn’t matter what the health certificate says below that).
All Ready to Go to Anne’s, but it’s too cold in Chicago — BUMMER!
But I’ve Got a New Fish Toy
I Can’t Get The Stuffins Out
I can’t imagine, Penni. We all know Holmes will love his new family, and we’ll be thinking of you today. Hugs.
Good luck and a safe trip to Holmes. I see you mentioned a Thundershirt, have you had any experience of using this to calm an over anxious dog due to having a bitch in season, the second one in 3 weeks (thank goodness I only have the two) – think I shall go and find it and put it on him. Of course he is also not eating and is loosing weight as I look at him, and with Crufts coming up soon, that’s not good! Oh!!! these boys they are a problem 🙂
Yvonne, I use thundershirts for a variety of reasons including keeping my boy calm when a girl is in season. Also check out the anxiety wrap, some folks are having great luck with it.
Well, thank goodness Holmes got a new fish toy! He just likes to ride in the car, Penni!
