  1. A Very Good Day

    March 22, 2012 by myeye

Keina and Chase’s puppies were born overnight.  There are six girls (two sables) and two boys.  The two boys and four of the girls are brindle.  The first four were born naturally, but then Keina stalled so the final four were delivered by C-Section.  Many cheers for Veterinarian Sherri Gibbons.  She gave one Oxytocin shot and although Keina contracted, she didn’t deliver a puppy — so immediate C-Section.  The vet says that the remaining four puppies’ umbilical cords were all tangled together.  She’s never seen that before.  So there is one more thing we can add to our list of what can go wrong.

However, back at the ranch, the eight babies are healthy and active.  They weighed between 7.5 oz. and 11.1 oz.  All have lots of icing, but there are no mismarks.  Keina is fine.  Kathy will take photos a little later and I will update this post with first baby pictures.  Whoo Hoo!  I’m such a proud puppy G-Ma!

To make today even more fun, I received a call this morning from MetLife.  in 2009 the hose on my new washing machine sprang a leak in the middle of the night.  My downstairs was flooded.  Those of you who’ve read the blog for that long may remember the drying fans and drywall removed.  I had a $500 deductible.  MetLife has been pursuing Best Buy for using the old washer hose rather than installing a new one.  Best Buy actually (finally) paid the bill and I will be receiving a $500 check.  I think in very large letters it says “2012 National Specialty Fund”.  There is NOTHING like found money!

I’m hoping the rest of today goes as well — and that your day is also splendid!
