  1. The Neighborhood Is Poorer Today

    May 30, 2012 by myeye

The well drilling company came out at about 11:00 yesterday and replaced the well pump/motor/control panel and we have water once again.  We definitely spent one of the longer weekends waiting for them.  With tax, the fix cost more than $3500.  Painful.  While the guys were down in the well, they discovered that one of our pressure tanks is beginning to leak.  It will need to be replaced within six to eight months for another $2200.  Egads!  We’ll be starting another kitty for the new tank.

I am going to go stand in the shower now — you’ll all be glad I did!

  2. Well, It’s About The Well

    May 29, 2012 by myeye

Murphy was in charge of the Memorial Day Weekend.

On Saturday, early afternoon, the well pump gave up the ghost.   The neighbors and I agreed we would hold out until today so that we did not pay the holiday premium for the drilling company.  The non-holiday charge was going to be bad enough!  Everyone has the money to pay his/her share (IT’S A MIRACLE!!!).   None of us are taking a vacation this summer.  Instead we will all take at least two showers a day and pretend we are standing in a waterfall on a tropical island.

Our drilling company had us first on the emergency list when I stopped in on the way to the office.  Matthew (owner) said they will have a new pump/motor/control panel installed today.  I cannot wait to get home and stand in that tropical waterfall.

  3. Go Deuce!

    May 28, 2012 by myeye

In February 2010, Paula and Eric Weller took a chance on a young stud dog.  They bred their Magic, (Wellshire Lady Luck) to Chase.  It was Magic’s first litter and Chase’s second.  There were five boys and three girls born on April 12, 2010.  It turned out to be quite the litter.  Wellshire Absolut Magic is co-owned by Carolyn Tompkins and Paula.  She was Winners Bitch at the 2011 National Specialty at 1 day over 12 months of age.  “Nikki” finished her Championship, earned her Bronze level Grand Championship, has multiple Group placements, and is currently ranked in the Top 10 Cardigans.  She has been beautifully shown by Angelia Hall.  Litter sister “Darby” (Wellshire Follow The Queen Darby) lives in Phoenix and belongs to David and Gwendy Kem.  She completed both her HT and PT last October.  She will be entering the conformation ring soon.  The elegant “Ali” (Wellshire Queen of Hearts) owned by Eric and Paula, handled by Paula, finished her Championship this past winter.  Today “Deuce” (Wellshire Mr. Majestic) also owned by Eric and Paula, and handled by Paula, earned a 5-point major at Coeur D’Alene to finish his Championship.  These four youngsters combined to earn sufficient progeny/points for their mother’s Bronze Level Register of Merit award.

To say I am proud would be an understatement.  I am so happy for the breeders and the owners of these youngsters.  I am pleased that taking their chances with young Chase paid off splendidly for all of us.

  4. Darby’s Hip Results

    May 27, 2012 by myeye

Chase/Magic daughter Follow The Queen Darby HT PT received her OFA hip evaluation recently and is rated GOOD.  Yay for Darby and her people!  I hear that Darby will be in the conformation ring soon.  The Chase/Magic litter is only the second of Chase’s litters to reach two years of age.  (Holmes and Watson were the first.)  We’re hoping for more good results for other kids soon.

Our Inca is ten years old today.  What a trooper she is!  From Office Dog to Puppy Sitter to Veteran Show Dog.  We can always count on our lady to be sweet and happy.  Here’s to many more birthdays, Inca Dinka Doo.

. . . and the hat — she’ll even put up with a spring hat.
