It has been so very hot here — high 90’s — and the relative humidity has been so low — less than 5% — that it has been very uncomfortable. Last night at about 9:30, it began to rain on my house. It was a torrential rain with lightning and it lasted for at least a half hour. Everything smelled so fresh, and I was so happy that the dust would be subdued. I thought I might even pull weeds this weekend.
I walked out this morning to go to the office and saw that our graded dirt street was completely dry. Usually after a deluge, the street is a quagmire. I had no puddles in the front of my house. I went back in and looked again out the sliding glass door. I had puddles on the patio. I know Inca and Chase were wet at bedtime. What was going on? Apparently, it rained on the west side of our street on my roof and in the back, but there was not a drop for the front of my house and east. So, I’ll pull back-40 weeds this weekend. Doesn’t that sound like fun?
I’ll see your high-90’s and low humidity…and raise you mid-90’s and 59% humidity! Yikes, it’s like a freakin’ steam bath here! I guess the plus side for us is that our skin doesn’t dry out and crack.
And, no, weeding the back-40 does not sound fun 🙁
