  1. Official Puppy Photo Session

    April 30, 2013 by myeye

The baybeez are worn out (and so am I). We drove into Albuquerque to Kevin’s Photography Studio. Kevin Dooley and his wife Trish will be sharing the pick girl puppy with me. Kevin is a wonderful photographer so today was “Official Litter Photo Day”. I’ll be posting more terrific photos later. First I want to talk about how the College Kids handled the adventure.

They have been nowhere since the night they were born and we met Dr. T at the clinic to do Dory’s C-Section. So this was a breath-holding adventure. They were amazing! The six were all over the studio. They investigated, chewed, dragged, found people with whom to cuddle, barked, wrestled, and charmed.

The photo shoot was very difficult because the puppies had places to go and things to do. We had three puppy wranglers and the photographer. We have some lovely photos, did get the official litter portrait. However, the stacked photos were hit and miss.

Kevin, Trish and I are going to share the red girl known as Hillary (the Nola mini-me). Her call name will be “Copper”. Because the brindle girls, Cameron and Intrigue, are so similar, we’re scheduling another puppy shoot in a week and a half. They’ll be 6-1/2 weeks old and we may have better luck evaluating them. Both boys were cooperative. Dally was a wild girl — we spent a great deal of time (and energy) chasing her down. She’s fast and athletic. Nearly all the outtakes feature Dally.

Here are a few photos.  I’ve been through the first 100 or so — and that’s it for tonight!

  2. Chase Happy Mail

    April 28, 2013 by myeye

Chase finished his Started Duck Title on April 13th and we received his AKC Title Certificate in yesterday’s mail.  That is fast!  Good job Chaseman!  Great work, Ellen — and thank you.

  3. Sunday – Puppies in a tub

    April 23, 2013 by myeye

While I was adding the play/potty area to the whelping box, I put the babies in a big plastic tub where they squished together in all their cute chubbiness.  I walked by the tub and was forced to find the camera for a few quick shots.  They were not in there for long — I worked at warp speed, but they managed a power nap and were ready to go when the new area was set up.

I wish I could just stay home and play with the baybeez!

  4. Puppy Business

    April 18, 2013 by myeye

Perhaps it is “Puppy Busy-ness”.  At 3-1/2 weeks, the College Kids are into their surroundings.  Cameron, the first born, is an escape artist.  When I am receiving texts from puppycam watchers that she is out “again”, I start thinking of ways to keep the puppies in their box, but still give mom access.  Last night I attached a piece of rubber cove molding at the doorway.  It protrudes into their space, but doesn’t make the entry any higher.  Cameron has escaped only once since I did that.  Here I must sing the praises of duct tape yet again!

Some photos of the kids going about their business:

Mmmm — yummy goat milk and ground turkey

Cameron on the outside of the box — she doesn’t even miss her brothers and sisters

Dally checks out the plumbing — a 4″ angle — the boys are too fat so I’ll try to find an 8″ pipe

    A pile of brindles

I’m having trouble remembering to do anything but enjoy puppies.  As they grow, it gets even more difficult.  Mmmmm, puppy breath!

  5. Chase’s High in Trial Duck [geese] Run

    April 17, 2013 by myeye

Thank you Cindy Traylor for making a video of this run, and, as always to Ellen Gerwin who trains and trials the baddog.  I don’t think anyone would say that Chase is less than enthusiastic!
