  1. It’s A Tiny Miracle – Kip

    January 21, 2015 by myeye

Last summer, Kip the Cardigan disappeared from the yard of his owners’ home in Pecos NM.  Because the property is gated — no road nearby, and because Kip has suffered IVDD and was not as fast as a Cardigan can be, we surmised he had been snatched by a lynx (seen prowling the area).  His heartbroken people walked miles looking and calling, but never found him.

Today the Santa Fe Animal Control people called his owners because they had Kip, had scanned his microchip, and determined his owners’ phone number.  The owners are driving to Santa Fe tomorrow to claim him.  I don’t know any details — his condition — I don’t know.  What I do know is WE MUST ALL MICROCHIP OUR PUPPIES.  Kip is coming home because he was microchipped.  Six months — and Kip is coming home!

  2. It’s a Kip Christmas

Thanks to Sara and family who sent this photo of Kip and his Golden Molly.  Kip thought the neck decoration was plenty — glad he avoided the antlers.

  3. How’s Our Kipper Doing?

    August 7, 2010 by myeye

Sara sent me these photos from their mountain cabin.  Kip gets around very well, but isn’t up to a long hike.  So, when the going gets tough, the tough get to ride in a wagon.  The other dog is Kip’s Golden “Molly”.  The young boys are Sara and Jim’s grandchildren . . . . and that’s Jim up and hiking the trails — an amazing recovery!  It’s pretty in the Jemez Mountains, isn’t it?

  4. So, How’s Our Kipster?

Sara writes (and, of course, sends a photo):

We took Kip to the mountains.  He loves all the smells.  He can’t walk real straight yet.  He drags his back feet on occasion.  I got him some booties to protect his feet.  It was rather hard for him to walk, but he did great and had a wonderful time.  He is the cutest and most wonderful dog!  We all dearly love him.

I wish for every dog a home as loving and caring as Kip’s home is.  He is a lucky boy.

Jim is also making great strides — taking longer walks and now able to enjoy the trip to the mountain cabin.

  5. Kip Update from the Weekend

    April 14, 2010 by myeye

Sarah sent me Kip photos with a little sticky note that “Mr. Precious” is doing very well.  She says that following hydrotherapy on Thursday, he began wagging his tail.  We had all pegged tail wagging as the HUGE milestone in his recovery.  What a steadfast little guy he is.  Kip is so lucky to have a family that is willing to put in the hours of physical therapy needed to bring a dog back to its feet.  Sarah describes Kip as walking like a drunken sailor, but, he is walking on his own.
