Last weekend, Jessica Viera showed Flutter (Bluefox Elyan Mariposa) at shows in Anchorage. On Saturday, Flutter was Winners Bitch/Best of Winners for her third Major and a completed Championship. The judge was Robert Vandiver. Flutter is seventeen months old. On Sunday, Jess moved Flutter up to the Champion class for Best of Breed and Judge Margaret Jones awarded her Best of Breed over three other champions. In the Herding Group Judge Jones gave her a Group III — I think/hope the first of many Group awards for this pretty girl.
I can’t say enough good things about Flutter’s “other mother” and primo handler Jessica Viera. She does such a lovely job of exhibiting her (and of washing off the mud). Our little girl is definitely a pig-dog!
Flutter’s Championship/Group Placement completed the requirements for her mother Lowri’s Register of Merit Bronze award. Flutter is the fourth champion in Lowri’s litter by GCh Twinroc Santa Paws ROMg “Dickens”. A fifth puppy, Peyton needs only a 3-point major to complete his Championship. We have been on a wild ride with this group of puppies — and have we ever enjoyed it. Here is Flutter’s “new champion” photo — she cleans up well.
Tuli landed at the airport last night. She is 10-1/2 weeks old. She is a delightful spirit that I am so happy to own. Tuli is a Lowri/Kevin daughter which makes her a Chase granddaughter/great granddaughter. This was the only shot we took of her — it gives you the idea of how she is built
The Chase/Daisy Baybeez are 6-1/2 weeks old. This week they were a little more comfortable being manhandled. Many thanks to Kathy Sanchez whose fingers are a puppy delicacy and to Jean Sanchez who had her first try at using the SLR camera. I think we’ll use a tripod next weekend.
Today Chase, Flutter and I went out to Edgewood to herd. (Salsa was at a sleepover with Kevin, Tricia, and Copper so didn’t make the trek). There was a pack of puppies that came out today so Flutter had instant friends. On our last round of ducks for Chase, Ellen suggested turning Flutter loose in the arena. I did and she trotted along with Ellen and then with her Grampa. At the very end, she began working the ducks on her own. The video camera is showing its age — that may be the next electronics purchase so forgive some bobbles. Enjoy the baby learning about herding.
Sunshine! When Chase and I returned from herding, we went into the back yard with Salsa (Holmes/Rhiannon) and Flutter (Lowri/Dickens). Salsa is a month older than Flutter. Today it was Flutter that made it into the camera’s eye most often. Salsa was either too fast or was hidden behind her dad. Enjoy photos of our cute little girls.
I am past sixty-five and still practicing law. I have two terrific sons, they have lovely wives, and I have one truly special granddaughter. At home are three Cardigan Welsh Corgis that amuse and challenge me. We participate in lots of dog-related activities. I love my camera, writing, and roaming. I live in central New Mexico because it's where I want to be. Thanks for visiting my blog. Your (tasteful) comments are welcome.
