  1. Eleven Weeks of Enjoying Puppies

    The Tuli/Chase puppies are eleven weeks old.  On January 6th, Pam Day and I drove to T or C to meet Carol Ann Young.  She took the sweet boy Ezra home to Silver City.  After a few days with her, he earned the name “Willie” and that is who he will be (Elyan Max Baer).  He is fitting into her lifestyle, bringing her great happiness.  I love getting a photo from time to time.

    Last Thursday, Banter, now Aldo, flew to Portland OR with Kristine Hayes.  She is a creative puppy trainer and is head over heels in love with the happy boy.  Aldo goes to Kristine’s work every day where he is taking over the Reed College Biology Department.  (Elyan Jose Aldo)  Kristine is a huge MMA fan so while she was here, we took a quick trip downtown to the Jackson Wink Academy where some of the greatest MMA fighters train.  Alas, Holly Holm did not make an appearance.  Looking forward to loads of photographs of the growing Aldo.

    Finally, there’s Alice (Elyan Holly Holm).  She is an adorable little girl with non-stop feisty.  She has a very full coat so I ordered DNA testing to make sure she is not a fluff.  I should know by the end of the week.  I REALLY hope she is not a long coat.  She is second princess to the beautiful sable River.  Alice has a dirty nose — always!

  2. Stacking The Chase-Tuli Puppies

    I got people together.  Kathy Yarwood Sanchez offered up her fingers holding tiny disks of string cheese.  I wrestled with the little kids trying to stack them, Pam Day manned the camera.  Unfortunately the puppies did not freeze in little show dog position, but these shots will give you an idea of how they looked at two months old.

    Alice is staying with me, Chase and River (who loves playing with puppies littler than she is).  Banter/Aldo is going to Portland with Kristine Hayes.  Ezra is in Silver City with Carol Ann Young.  I wish the other three puppies had lived, but I love these three little Tuli/Chase children and consider them a gift.  They are happy, athletic, willing, and bold.

  3. Tuli Chase Puppies

    Well, things did not go exactly as planned.  On November 6th, Tuli delivered six puppies in fewer than four hours.  They were healthy and active.  They weighed between 7.3 ounces and 10.5 ounces.  There were three boys and three girls.  This is the litter at the beginning.

    On day five, three puppies died within four hours.  It was unexpected as all had been nursing well and were very active.  We lost two girls and one boy.  The lab at Texas A & M Vet School is trying to determine the cause of death.  Originally, I thought it was Canine Herpes Virus, but the lab says it was not.  They are culturing to determine what might have killed the babies.

    We have three puppies remaining.  They are 17 days old today.  They are eating well and are very active.  The two boys are over two pounds each and the little girl is at one pound.  Tuli is a great mom!  It’s interesting that the three smallest puppies at birth are the survivors.

    Ezra 17 daysEzra is a full-faced mismark.  He has very interesting markings, including leaves on his back.  He will live with Carol in Silver City New Mexico.

    I am hoping that these babies continue to thrive.  Perhaps the girl is a show puppy as I intend to keep her.  We will see how Banter grows and decide where he should live when we are able to evaluate him.

    I’m grateful that Tuli is well and thinking good thoughts for the little ones.

  4. Puppies, Indeed!

    Friday Tuli and I visited Dr. Donny for an ultrasound.  By golly, our little Tuli is pregnant with Chase puppies.  We saw four puppy bubbles on one screen so know for sure she is pregnant and that there are at least four puppies.  We do not try to do the ultimate count on an ultra sound.  We’ll xray for number of puppies and size on the morning of November 2nd.  Baybeez are due on November 5th.  I hope they have the same lovely temperaments exhibited by The Clutter.  I will hook up the puppy cam, and hope my friends, neighbors and relatives will join me for puppy holding parties beginning the weekend after Thanksgiving.  The Action Center will be set up and Chase will watch over the mom and puppies.  I love my puppies!

  5. Pretty Tuli and Handsome Chase

    We are expecting puppies from MHIT GCH DC CAN CH C-Myste Baledwr Pursuit of Happiness CD RN HSAsM OAP AJP MVCX ROM-Versatility-Gold* and CH Elyan Bluefox Nothing But Flowers CGC.  The pedigree is here.  Chase is OFA Good, Elbows Normal, PRA, DM, Pink clear.  Heart and Thyroid Normal.  Tuli is PennHipped in the 85th percentile.  She is DM, PRA, and Pink clear.  Both Chase and Tuli carry fluff — so, yes, we should have a couple of fluffy puppies.  The litter is due on November 5th.  This pedigree is very similar to that of the breeding that produced “The Clutter.”  Chase was the dad, and Tuli is a 3/4 sister to CH Flutter.  I am very excited to have more cute, talented puppies.  So, stay tuned.
