  1. Just Because I Feel Like It

    July 6, 2015 by myeye

Here is a photo of my father on one of his polo ponies — in the mid to late forties.  I wish he had lived long enough for me to know him as an adult.

  2. The Hurrier I go . . . (Photos Added)

    June 9, 2014 by myeye

I am behind on blogging — w-a-a-a-y behind.

My granddaughter Adrienne and her Mexican Folk dance Troup Baila! Baila! leave for New York City on Wednesday.  She is so excited!  They will be there a week to dance, shop, and sight see.  She is 12 so this is a very big deal for her.

Our Lowri/Dickens puppies have been making waves.  The Red Rocket (Gimme) has earned her Grand Champion majors and has all her GCH competition wins, but, she’s only 7-1/2 months old.  That is one hot shot puppy.  Of course, co-owner handler Angelia Hall has done a wonderful job with her.  Litter brother Kevin has earned two majors, litter sister Fable has earned two majors.  Sister Flutter has a major reserve and a minor reserve –turns out she is a fine example of a baddog.  At the show a week or so ago, she told off the German Shepherds that wanted to come into HER ring.  Jessica is trying to ‘splain how it really works before she goes to her next show weekend.  Litter brother Peyton has some single points AND he earned his RN title a week or so ago.  What a smart boy!

Here are some photos of Flutter from Jessica.  I think she’s such a cute girl!  She is 7-1/2 months old in these photos.

Andy (Chase/Dory) earned the first leg of his RN with a perfect score.  He is studying the Utility exercises and will be unstoppable when Sheri decides it is time.  Copper is about ready to trial for her CD and will begin serious herding training next month.  Sister Addie has almost no hair at the moment so is home learning lessons.

Chase and I are preparing for an Agility trial the last weekend of this month.  He’s not trialed since the National Specialty.  I hope he’s forgotten that he likes to stop in the middle of the weaves to bark.  If he’s very good, he will have a pretty red girl come visiting.  If he’s not — he’ll still have the pretty red girl come visiting.

Our old Inca, sometimes known as the Red Empress, celebrated her 12th birthday on May 26th.  Aside from a few white hairs on her muzzle, she looks wonderful (not that there is anything really wrong with white hair).  She and our Salsa play all day, drag weeds into the house, and take dog bowls outside.  Salsa begins Puppy Agility tomorrow evening.  I think we are going to have a blast.

Taryn over at A Tail of Two Cardis is celebrating her 5th blogiversary with a give away — you might want to visit her — though you will have to disclose some forgetful thing that you’ve done — could win a $20 Starbucks card . . .

My 6th blogiversary was in March and I totally blew it.  This is post #1,875.  Hard to believe I could bore so many for so long.

I promise photos for the next post.

  3. Kids and Grandkids (Human)

    October 8, 2013 by myeye

Brock and Angela and Adrienne went to the Bio-Park on Sunday.  They met there with Kevin Dooley of Kevin’s Photography.  He took family portraits.  Here’s a proof sample — GORGEOUS!  You’ve also seen his work with our puppies.  Kevin and Tricia co-own the pretty red girl Copper.

  4. Dory Update and Happy Birthday to Hunter

    March 21, 2013 by myeye

Our Dory is in her last few days of dragging around a tummy full of babies. I hope to get a good photo of her when we go to the vet’s for her puppy count x-ray. I noticed last night that she is barely making it through the dog door. She’s still happy and always hungry. I’ve increased her food and, since I raw feed, have eliminated bone from her diet for the final two weeks of the pregnancy. The theme for this litter is Colleges that begin with the letter “A”. There is quite a list. (“Auburn” has already been claimed.) Of course, that’s just for the registered names — call names are up to the puppies’ families. Anne and I were thinking we might identify the mascots for each of the schools. Monday is the day, but we’ll have an update with the x-ray before then. You can all help us count heads/spines.

Today Chase’s Dad Am/Can Ch Merrymoon Firestorm is celebrating his 17th birthday.  That makes me happy for two reasons: because Hunter is a grand dog and it’s lovely that he is still keeping Shelley company, and because it bodes well for Chase’s longevity.  I hope to have him around for many years to come.  Side note:  Chase’s mom, Alice, will celebrate her 13th birthday in June.

Shelley posted some photos of Hunter on her blog.  For our puppy people in waiting, I hope you’ll take a look at the photos of your puppies’ paternal grandfather.

Here are two photos I boosted from Shelley’s post.  Note that Hunter, sitting in the first photo closely resembles Chase who is the dog on the right in the second photo.  In the second photo, Chase was 18 months old.  He and his half-sister Dolly were the “progeny” for the Stud Dog Class in which Hunter was named #1 stud dog for 2009.  That same year Chase and his littermate Pilot were the “representative progeny” for their mother, Ch Mariel Reese’s Alice Springs.  “Alice” was selected as Best Brood Bitch.

Happy birthday, Hunter.  We’re proud to have your son and many of your grandpuppies.

  5. Michelle – This Only Happens To Other Families

    January 16, 2013 by myeye

Yesterday we learned that my 17-year old niece Michelle was shot and killed in Baltimore.  She had been attending school there.

We all hope to remain healthy as we grow old.  We hope never to bury one of our children.  Michelle was vibrant, loved to ride.  She had a terrific smile and a great sense of humor.  She was bright and (when she wasn’t acting like a teenager) was sweet and caring.  How we will all miss her.  She was the only child of my eldest (little) brother and his wife.  I searched my digital files and found this photo from Christmas 2010.  I will always think of her this way.

    Hug your children close today.
