There are three boys and three girls. Someone asked from whence came the red. Both Chase and Dickens have produced reds, Lowri’s mom Scout is red. So, Lowri inherited the red gene from her parents, and combined it with Dickens’ red marker to produce this little red girl.
The puppies are in Tennessee with Susan Long, and I doubt there will be any available. We still have to see if any of them are fluffies.

The latest issue of Canine Chronicles is out. For the second time, Chase has two daughters in the top 20 Cardigans. A year ago, it was Nikki (GCh Wellshire Absolut Magic) bred by Eric and Paula Weller, and owned by Paula and Carolyn Tompkins. Her dam is Wellshire Lady Luck ROMb. And our Lowri. This time, both girls are from the wonderful “Ocho” litter. Their dam is that lovely red Group Winner, BOS – Westminster “Scout” (GCh Cardiridge Jean Louise Finch ROMb HT RN CA). The “Ocho” was bred by Janet Suber. By virtue of her wonderful Best of Breed win at the Northwest Cardigan Fancier’s Specialty on September 27th, “Ginger” (Ch Mockingbird-Wyncrest’s I Believe in Magic NAP NJP NFP CA) is #18. Ginger is owned by Kathy Metcalfe. “Lowri” (HIT GCh Mockingbird Elyan Magic Moment HSAd HSBd) is at #11. Susan Long, Cheryl Kienast and I own Lowri — or, perhaps, she owns us. Lowri’s first litter is due this weekend, so Ginger must carry the family banner for a while.
You go, girls! I am so proud of you and your owners/handlers/supporters.

Kathy Metcalfe is a friend who owns one of the Chase/Scout daughters — Champion Mockingbird-Wyncrest’s I Believe in Magic NAP NJP NFP CA. The dog is called “Gingersnap”. A few weeks ago Ginger went to Idaho to stay with our friend Angelia Hall so she could go to some dog shows. Her first weekend out was two weeks ago in Utah where she was Best of Breed on both Saturday and Sunday. Yesterday was the Richland Washington Regional Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America Specialty. It has grown to be the third largest Specialty in the United States — after our National Specialty and the much revered Western Reserve Specialty. There was an entry of 70 Cardigans. It was pouring rain, but Ginger and Angie persevered and slogged home with a BOB — or Best In Specialty Show (BISS). We are so proud of this lovely girl. We are doing a happy dance ’round these parts!
Ginger’s cousin Nash was Best of Opposite Sex to the Best of Breed — pretty darned impressive for the Alice/Hunter grandkids.

I have been notified that Chase has officially earned his Register of Merit Silver designation from the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America. That means he has at least 15 individual titled progeny that have earned a total of at least 30 titles. I am so proud of his children and of the people that bred and own them. I am past sixty-five and still practicing law. I have two terrific sons, they have lovely wives, and I have one truly special granddaughter. At home are three Cardigan Welsh Corgis that amuse and challenge me. We participate in lots of dog-related activities. I love my camera, writing, and roaming.
