  1. Dory Gave Blood

    January 19, 2013 by myeye

Miss Dory is in season (I count January 17th as day 1).  So this morning she (and I) went to Dr. Donnie’s for a blood draw for her first progesterone test.  Because Donnie specializes in reproductive issues, they check their lab results even on Sunday, so we’ll have the first number tomorrow morning by email.  Probably April Fools Day puppies.  Given Chase’s and Dory’s outlook on life, the litter will be comprised of very silly, happy baybeez.  I cannot wait!  We are 99% sure that Chase is not black-factored so are expecting Brindles, Reds, and Sables.  All of them will be black-factored.

Donnies’s clinic is close to the office so we drove through Starbucks and are now at the office.  Dory is wearing her pretty panties and was flinging the cushions off my couch.  It’s a good thing most of my clients are detained (that’s Federal talk for “in jail”) because my office is not fit for man — only for beast.  Here is happy Dory on her couch.

  2. Now To Get Ready For Christmas

    December 12, 2012 by myeye

Last Friday I drove to Colorado Springs, spent the night with my son and daughter-in-law.  We had a nice visit, went to dinner at the home of a neighbor, watched a movie (Hope Springs).  The evening was definitely not normal for me — a nice break.  On Saturday morning, I visited Jessica and Brian Viera, picked up a 4′ x 3′ x 4′ equipment trailer (which I promptly named “Carrie”), as well as baddog Nola and Chase’s betrothed “Dory”.  I could take the 24 hours off because our CWCCA News Bulletin had gone to the proofreaders.  All the errors came back on Monday, we made corrections through 2:00 yesterday.  At 3:45, the magazine was at the printers and I am a “free woman” — for a short period of time.  Of course, that doesn’t take into account how far behind I now am at the day job.  This issue is 112 pages of ads and articles.  The proof should be ready this evening or tomorrow morning; mailing is planned for the week between Christmas and New Year’s.  This issue will have a surprise insert.  Here is the cover:

I hope to get some Christmassy photos this weekend in daylight, to do a little shopping and wrapping, meet some of my family for dinner on Sunday.  If there is time left over, I will clean house . . . or not!

  3. One Day Post Turkey

    November 23, 2012 by myeye

As I posted yesterday, my Krups coffeemaker died.  I’ve ordered a new one through Amazon, but it will be a few days until it arrives.  Although this is a holiday in New Mexico, I have work to do so I headed off to the office bright and early.  On the way (well, not really — it’s pretty out of the way), I drove through Starbucks and treated myself to a Vanilla Latte which should keep me going for a few hours.  As soon as I’m done with this post, I will get down to work — all CWCCA volunteer stuff, but it will be good to get it out of the way.

To those of you swimming upstream in the stores, I really don’t envy you.  To those of you doing fun things with family and your dogs, I do envy you.  Have a great day and I hope the sun is shining where you are.

  4. What Did You Do This Weekend?

The Chaseman was entered all three days at the Valencia Valley Kennel Club Agility Trials held at Eagle Park in Belen.  He finished his Novice Standard Preferred title (NAP).  I love this photo of him flying toward a jump.  Evelyn Vinogradov took this and many other shots.  Once she has posted from all three days, I know I’ll be adding more Chase shots to my collection.  He’s still a green dog and makes green dog mistakes, but he loves this game.  Our classes are winding down for this year so he and I are going to hit the fields.  I hope to certify him this winter to enter him in our TD test in January.

Meanwhile, the kids were busy in other parts of the country.  Smooch was in Yakima and earned a Novice Fast leg.  Lowri and Baby Dinah were showing in Knoxville.  Dinah earned two more points and Lowri was Best of Breed one day and Select to Sherri Hurst and Libby the other three days.

Since I was at the trials, the house did not get cleaned (again/still), but I made some small inroads.  Chase’s betrothed (Dory) earned a GCh Major — she’s at 13 GCh points with two majors.  Since Dory is now nekked, we expect she will come in season soon.  When she does, she’ll get on a plane to fly down from Chicago.

My work week has come back to me — on Friday we resolved the matter that was set for trial.  So I am able to get to work on the 2013 National Specialty chores and on the Bulletin (not to mention taking care of all my other clients).

  5. Chase Kids On The Road

    November 1, 2012 by myeye

Cheryl Kienast is at the Tennessee Valley KC shows this weekend.  Today our Baby Dinah was Winners Bitch and Best of Winners for her second point.  Big sister Lowri was Select Bitch — wouldn’t you know it — Sherri and Libby showed up to take Best of Breed.  It’s four days of shows so I’ll have reports all weekend.

Chase’s next Agility trial begins tomorrow afternoon.  We have class tonight to remind him of how much fun it is to run.  I plan to run him myself tomorrow.  The knee is much better and I’ll wear a brace just to be on the safe side.  He has two Novice Standard legs and one Novice Jumpers leg.  We have three trial days to earn another Novice and two Jumpers legs to complete his first Agility titles.  Such fun for the happy guy.

I was scheduled to begin a trial on Tuesday, but last minute plea negotiations were successful — so the case is resolved.  I am so happy that we worked things out (and that I’ll have my weekend).  When it’s 70 degrees and sunny, you do not want to be handcuffed to a keyboard.
