  1. Making a Big Change

    May 20, 2012 by myeye

I am moving my office to the Village of Los Lunas.  The office I will be renting is a 15 minute drive from my house.  It is just down the street from the Railrunner Station and a mile from the new Valencia County Courthouse, located on Luna Avenue.  This move will give me back an hour and a half per day of time and cut my gasoline bill by 2/3.  When I need to be in Court in Albuquerque, I can ride the Railrunner ($1.00 round trip), then hop Albuquerque’s “Downtown Get-Around” which is free for the ride to Federal or State District Court.  Although I have enjoyed sharing space with my Daughter in Law’s ad agency, I’ve really needed to be hanging out with lawyers and, frankly, losing a couple of hours per day in traffic is a bummer.  That left over gas money — I’m sure it will go to the dogs!

July will be fix-up month, painting and carpet in the new place, then moving all my stuff.  August 1st I will officially be housed in Los Lunas.

I am very excited and relieved and anticipating the good things this change will mean for me.  Dogs can still come to work so all is well!

  2. Well, Well, Well

    May 10, 2012 by myeye

Dammit!  I share a well with three (and potentially a fourth) neighbor.  Our water pressure has been quite low recently.  Today I asked the well company in Peralta to come out and take a look.  The well technician (is that what they are called?) says we need a new pump, motor, and control panel.  That will cost between $3,000 and $3,500.  Since I have to wrestle with my three existing neighbors to get them to pay their share of the electric bill for the well (about $50/month), what do you think they’ll say when I ask them to cough up $800 each?  I’ve asked the well company for an estimate to have my own well dug.  It would certainly reduce the aggravation.  There are always a few complications in life . . .

  3. Conformation Drill, Holmes, and the Weather

    January 15, 2012 by myeye

How much “stuff” can fit in one post.  We’re going to find out.

Our training club offers conformation drill on Saturday nights at 6:30 pm.  That means that only the dyed-in-the-wool dog people are there.  Normal people are out to dinner, at a movie, watching television.  We are at drill class.  The instructor has Vizsla, but has shown for a long time and is so helpful.  Nola is my subject at the moment.  She is going to shows in Hobbs, NM February 4-5, hasn’t been to shows since the local cluster in mid-October.  It seemed wise to take her out for a spin.  You have never seen a dog have more fun doing what she was supposed to be doing — how cool is that?  Down and back — whoo hoo!  Go around — whoo hoo!  Get examined on the table — way cool!  Oh my, I love this youngster.  I think she’s very nicely put together, but her attitude does it for me.  She will be successful no matter what venue.  You have to adore Naughty Nola — that’s a message from her.

Holmes is not going to leave for Lake Arrowhead until January 28th.  Valerie has some medical things going on so we are waiting until she clears the deck.  Holmes requires both hands and some attention.  He’s a sweet boy, but he is also very excited about being alive.  We have stored some pupsicles and one day I will have Holmes’ children here, but he will be living in the land of tofu and Perrier with his new best friend Kodi.

The weather — it only counts because it is in the mid-fifties.  Sweatshirt and no jacket.  That means I must scoop the dog yards — sigh!  I hope you have something better to do.  Oh, I just thought of another stall tactic.  We now have a Tractor Supply Company.  Its Grand Opening is this weekend.  In addition to carrying PINK Carharts, they have dog beds for $7.99 each.  When your dogs disembowel dog beds, you definitely look for sales.  The scooping can wait.

    Herding photos coming later . . .

  4. It’s A Little Early for Winter

    December 19, 2011 by myeye

It began raining at 1:00 this morning — just poured. When I rolled out of bed and looked outside, there was mud as far as I could see. I slid my way out to the road with the trash can, came back in and took a shower. When next I looked outside, it was snowing — big, elegant flakes coming down very fast.

I have beau coup to do at the office so dressed in cords and boots.  I drove three miles west and hit icy roads.  Recalling the torturous 2-hour trip a week or so ago, I turned around, called my answering service and bailed on being in the office today.  Tomorrow’s forecast is one word ice.  Hmmm.  I might have two days available for vacuuming and mopping.  That will give the dogs the opportunity to track mud onto clean floors.

  5. Sunset – December 7th

    December 7, 2011 by myeye

I left the office early, detoured to a store that had chicken leg quarters for $ .49/lb.  I brought home 40 pounds as well as 6 pounds of chicken gizzards.  More work for Bruno this weekend, but I’ll have happy dogs.  Friday I’ll hit the farmers’ market for the veggies.  The upshot of all that is I arrived home before dark.  It was so worth it!

    From my patio:

Yep!  Merry Christmas is baking again!
