  1. Our Christmas Wish

    December 23, 2012 by myeye

It looks like we will have no snow for a holiday backdrop.  The green and red tablecloth just had to do.  We took these photos in shirtsleeves.  Grandma Inca (shedding), Visiting Dory, The Chaseman, and Nola (who is tied to the bench — guess her Obedience School Graduation was indeed a social promotiuon).  We wish you all the happiest of holidays and a 2013 that brings health, happiness, and success.

    Cookie?

Inca to Nola — stop complaining!

    Surely we’re done with this!

They all wish you many cookies in your stockings!

  2. Happy Birthday to Nola, and Smooch, and Udi, and Rhys

    October 20, 2012 by myeye

Our pretty red girl Nola, her dynamic sister Smoochie, and the brothers Udi and Rhys are two years old today.  So — a little trip down memory lane.

So, what have they done.  Rhys and Udi went to pet homes.  I expected that Rhys would be showing in Obedience by now, but haven’t received any word about that.

Smooch has been a star.  She is Elyan The Evening Echo of C-Myste HT NAP NJP RN BN.  DeAnn Nelson and her husband Rich are giving Smooch a wonderful home with lots of opportunities to excel in every venue.

Nola is Elyan C-Myste The Times Picayune HT.  She needs a 3-point major to complete her Championship and begins Obedience class next week.  She lives here with her Daddy Chase and her Grandma Inca.  I anticipate she will be bred in the Spring.

This litter was Chase’s third.  By the time they were born, Chase was in Tennessee herding with Susan and living with Cheryl.  The puppies were raised by big brother Holmes — how he loved these babies!

  3. The Nola Has Landed

    August 28, 2012 by myeye

Miss Nola and I were back at the house by 10:30 last night.  The shipping charge was $50 less than United/Continental had quoted me.  What a nice surprise!  When I took Nola out of the crate, I learned the reason for it.  Angie sent no hair with my little red girl.  So the crate and dog weighed substantially less that we predicted.  She is nekked.  I assume that means she is planning to be in season earlier than mid-October which is when she is due.  It really doesn’t make any difference — whenever she decides, we will have a week of Chase calling my attention to the fact that I am preventing him from impregnating her.  He spent so much time in Tennessee that he does not care that she is his daughter.  So — woe will be Chase!

Nola, Chase and Inca had a noisy, roiling reunion through the house and out into the yard.  I’m glad the whole pack is back.  I needed more dog hair to vacuum up.

  4. Quick Weekend Summary

    August 27, 2012 by myeye

    So I don’t get too far behind . . .

The Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club Bulletin was mailed out on Wednesday and began appearing in mail boxes on Thursday.  Giant sigh of relief — as always . . .

Lowri, with Susan and Cheryl, went to Atlanta for the dog shows on Saturday and Sunday.  Lowri was Best of Opposite Sex on Saturday and Best of Breed on Sunday.  She didn’t place in the regular group, but was 4th in the Owner/Handler Group.  Dinah was along for the ride and had a great time visiting vendors and meeting families that had come out to the shows.

Nola was in Santa Rosa where she did nothing to cheer about.  She’s flying home tonight (YAY!!!) needing one 3-point major to finish her Championship.  I’m sure it will come — we just have other things to do.  She’ll be starting basic obedience within the next few weeks, will continue herding with Ellen, and, now that it is cooling down, will go tracking with me and Chase.

In Vacaville, Chase/Phoebe son Watson earned his HT (Herding Tested) title this weekend.  I’m very proud of him and of his mom Alden for sticking in there while he caught on.  With Watson’s title, his dog mom Phoebe needs only one more title earned by one of her children to be awarded her Register of Merit Bronze.  Holmes is working on that.

Chase, Inca and I have been watching the weather channel and worrying about all of our friends and family near the Gulf Coast.  Unfortunately it does not appear that the Republican National Convention will be washed away.

  5. Naughty Nola and a Bulletin Report

    August 5, 2012 by myeye

Nola has been roaming around California with Angelia Hall and Jenn Outhet.  Today at Dixon she was Best of Winners for two more points.  She is now “Singled out”.  That means she needs just one three-point major to finish her Championship.  Since we have scheduled her to come home on August 27th, we are hoping for that last major at her last show of August.  When she returns, she will go back to herding and begin obedience classes.  When it cools off a little, she, Chase, and I will be out tracking as well.  Chase loves his agility class and now I am not quite as sore after class as I was after the first week.

I like my new office — I love the 10 to 15 minute trip to and from home, I love being 5 minutes from the District Courthouse.  I love having our Railrunner (commuter train) station a block away.  It costs $1.00 roundtrip to Albuquerque and with your ticket, there is no bus fare.  Benefits:  Waaaay cheaper than gas, I can work on the train.  Drawbacks: I can’t easily run all over Albuquerque and the trip takes longer than if I drove to town.  But, it’s all good.

    Pretty cool, isn’t it?

I just finished making all the proofreading corrections to the Summer issue of the Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America News Bulletin.  I printed out a high resolution copy and will spend some time tomorrow looking at it one last time before it goes to the printers.  I cannot tell you how happy it makes me to send it away.

I bought a bunch of mouse traps.  We have mouse/mice and my dogs seem to be fairly useless in the mousing department.  If Nola was home I expect we’d get some results.  Chase and Inca are using the mind meld — staring where they believe the mouse/mice last were.  It’s not at all effective.  So, time to trap mice and then watch the Olympics.  GO, USA!
